Duke and Duchess of Cambridge share touching Mother’s Day card from George to Kate – as they post touching message saying they’re thinking of ‘mothers old and new at this difficult time’

Prince William and Kate Middleton have shared an adorable card Prince George made to celebrate Mother’s Day.

Taking to the Kensington Palace Royal Instagram account, the Duke, 37, and Duchess of Cambridge, 38, posted a selection of photos, including the handmade efforts of the young royal, six. 

Alongside the throwback photos, the couple shared a message of support to those who may not be able to spend time with their loved ones amid the coronavirus pandemic and penned: 

‘To mothers new and old and families spending today together and apart – we are thinking of you all at this difficult time. Happy Mother’s Day.’

Amongst the other images included a photograph of a young Prince William and Prince Harry with their mother, the late Princess Diana, and a picture of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge with their children in Norfolk.

Elsewhere, Carole Middleton can be seen with her daughter, Kate Middleton. 

The royal couple’s post come as Boris Johnson is set to urge Britons to celebrate Mother’s Day remotely by using video calls – as he admits the NHS is on the brink of being ‘overwhelmed’ by the coronavirus outbreak.

The Prime Minister’s warning that ‘the numbers are very stark and they are accelerating’ came as the UK death toll soared to 233 – up 56 in a day.
