Duke and Duchess of Cornwall and William and Kate advertise for new Communications Officer

Charles and Camilla are hiring an ‘influential’ Communication Officer based at St James’ Palace – and the successful candidate will need to ‘handle sensitive information with discretion’

  • Duke and Duchess of Cornwall are hiring a Senior Communications Officer
  • Role will be based at St James’ Palace and will look after Charles, 70, Camilla, 72
  • Doesn’t state salary but says applicants must have strong media experience

The Duke and Duchess of Cornwall are hiring a Senior Communications Officer to join their busy team at St James’ Palace.

Just last month Buckingham Palace revealed they were seeking a Communication Officer, thought to be for the Queen, and it seems as though Charles, 70, and Camilla, 72, are following in the monarch’s footsteps.

The advert doesn’t specify a salary, but states that applicants must have strong media and marketing experience, and the ability to handle ‘sensitive information with tact and discretion’.

The role is described as assisting the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall with overseas visits, as well as working on ‘special projects’ and media briefings.

The advert reads: ‘We require a Senior Communications Officer to support the work of Their Royal Highnesses The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall on a fixed-term contract. This role will work within the Clarence House Communications Team.

‘The successful candidate will lead on communications plans for Their Royal Highnesses’ engagements in the U.K. and assist with overseas visits.

‘Good project management skills, attention to detail, interpersonal and influencing skills are essential requirements for the job, as is the ability to handle sensitive information with tact and discretion at all times.’

This comes just a month after Highgrove House advertised for a social media executive supporting Prince Charles, to be based at the picturesque Highgrove Gardens in Gloucestershire, the family residence of the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall.

The advert, posted on the Highgrove Royal Gardens website in June, stated: ‘We have an exciting opportunity for a Social Media and Content Executive to join our team with overall responsibility for developing and implementing the digital content strategy across online channels.

‘You’ll also generate and write engaging content for the website, including blogs and news stories, as well as email campaigns and seasonal promotions.’

It addd: ‘If you have lots of energy, and love being part of a very busy and focused team, then we would like to hear from you.

‘In return you can look forward to a friendly and lovely working environment (just down the road from the beautiful Highgrove Estate), excellent remuneration and other benefits.’
