Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson on Kelly Clarkson’s new daytime chat show says pal Kevin Hart ‘doing well’ after car crash

She’s a successful recording artist and children’s book author.

And now Kelly Clarkson, 37, has her own daytime TV chat show which premiered on NBC on Monday.

The American Idol season one winner welcomed Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson as her first celebrity guest, filling in for the previously scheduled Kevin Hart who injured his back in a solo car accident on September 1.

Johnson, 47, cut short his honeymoon to appear on Clarkson’s show; he tied the knot with Lauren Hashian, 35, the mother of his two youngest children, in Hawaii on August 18.

Johnson and Hart have worked together on the big screen, co-starring in 2016’s Central Intelligence and 2017’s Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle.

‘He’s doing very well,’ Johnson told Clarkson. ‘He’s bummed he couldn’t be here.’

Hart underwent back surgery following the crash and Johnson wasn’t above having a little fun at his friend’s expense. 

‘You know what? These things happen in life and thankfully he was strapped in nicely to his car seat,’ the former pro wrestler joked.

He went on: ‘But look, I love the guy. He’s one of my best friends… and honestly, I mean, thank god, it could have been a lot worse, so he’s a lucky man. And he knows it too.’

As for tying the knot with his girlfriend of 10 years, Johnson said the couple enjoyed a small intimate ceremony.  

‘We had the best wedding…. it was a beautiful, beautiful wedding,’ he explained. ‘It was so private and there were maybe 10 people with our babies. It was just the best wedding.’

The couple have two daughters – Jasmine, three, and Tiana, one.

Johnson also has a daughter Simone, 18, from his first marriage to Dany Garcia.
