Dylan Thomas avoids jail for dual one-punch attacks

A thug who viciously punched two teenagers in the head smiled and took selfies outside court after a judge spared him jail.

Dylan Robert Thomas was caught on CCTV knocking out a 17-year-old boy with one blow to the head in Claremont, Perth, earlier this year.

Footage showed Sam Ortiz flying backwards and smashing his head on the pavement, knocking him unconcious for several minutes.

He landed with enough force for his friends to hear the sickening thud from 15 metres away as he came horrifyingly close to death.

‘There was a concrete wall behind me that had a sharp edge to it and if I was about 30 centimetres backwards, I could’ve landed straight on that and it could’ve killed me,’ Sam told Seven News.

The court heard Thomas impulsively lashed out when Sam spat at his feet, but the victim denied that ever happened.

Just 15 minutes later, the 20-year-old committed another one-punch attack on a 19-year-old who was so traumatised he wouldn’t give his name to reporters.

‘There’s just no repercussions for your actions any more. It’s breeding a bit of a scum society in the city,’ the victim said.

Despite pleading guilty to both shocking attacks, Thomas was given only a 12-month suspended sentence and walked free from court on Tuesday.

‘Ooo the news is here, brother, what’s going on?’ he said cheekily while taking video and posing for grinning selfies outside court.

He otherwise refused to comment other than telling his father not to do anything as the older man tried to cover a news camera with his hand.
