Dylan Volley arrested after ‘exposing himself’

The former inmate who sparked national outrage when he was pictured in a restraint chair with a spit hood covering his face in a youth detention centre is facing a raft of new charges.

Dylan Voller, 21, shot into the spotlight when he was shown in CCTV footage being assaulted by guards, forcibly stripped naked, and tear-gassed while incarcerated at Darwin’s Don Dale juvenile detention centre in 2014.

The shocking ABC investigation prompted the establishment of a $70million royal commission which closed the centre after finding it breached human rights laws.

On Thursday Voller was arrested again after allegedly exposing himself on a drunken night out at a Perth train station.

He admitted ‘taking a piss’ on Cannington station railway tracks but claimed he was beaten up by security guards who allegedly strangled him by pressing their knees into his neck.

Voller said he later encountered police who called him ‘a piece of sh**’ and said they ‘would love to shoot him’.

The next day he shared pictures of his bruised and swollen face on social media which he claimed was a result of train guard violence.

CCTV footage from the station shows a group of guards pinning him down on a platform as he shouts ‘help me’.

The PTA says the response was required because Voller was being confrontational and goading officers.

Speaking to 7 News about his ‘drunken and silly’ night, Voller said: ‘I must have said something’ because the guards must have seen me and they all started coming at me.

‘There was about eight of them and they got me down on the ground and they smashed my face into the ground. They were all yelling at me and stuff.

‘One of them punched me in the face. They then dragged me out and threw me in the back of the transit van.’

After he was released, Voller said he was walking along a road with friends when a police car approached.

He said: ‘They knew who I was because they said, ‘you think because you’ve been on telly you’re pretty good, but you’re just pieces of s**t’ and ‘I’d love to shoot you’.

WA police said they were responding to reports that four men were jumping out infront of cars.

A PTA spokesman said: ‘When the Transit officers left, it is alleged Mr Voller jumped down on to the tracks and exposed himself in front of members of the public.

‘Following this, he was approached by two TOs who spoke to him for seven minutes, during which he refused to provide his details. He was arrested by two TOs.

‘Mr Voller was held in the back of one of our vehicles for about 30 minutes pending the arrival of an ambulance, which was called at his request for an unrelated medical condition. He was then released from custody.’

The PTA said it would be charging Mr Voller by summons. Daily Mail Australia contacted WA police for further comment.
