Eamonn Holmes is told he is too fat on Good Morning Britain

A weight-loss expert criticised Eamonn Holmes’s weight on Monday’s Good Morning Britain, telling him he’s ‘too fat’.

Steve Miller, told Eamonn, 58, he was a ‘heart attack waiting to happen’ if he didn’t shed some pounds.

GMB was hosting a debate on whether a doctor who called his patients ‘fat and lazy’ in his medical notes was right to criticise their weight.

The panel were discussing an unnamed male medic who was brought before the General Medical Council after bosses found his patients’ medical records.

Describing one patient, he wrote: ‘Liked me cos I didn’t ridicule her for being a fat smoker – even though she is.’

Eamonn thought the doctor’s comments were hilarious, and agreed that GPs should be able to warn someone about the dangers of being overweight.

Kate Garraway asked Miller what he would say to Eamonn if Miller was a doctor and Eamonn had come in complaining about his health woes.

Kate said: ‘What would you say to Eamonn? Eamonn comes in and says he’s got a bit of a sore throat and he’s having tummy ache or whatever your moan might be.’

Eamonn then asked him if he would tell him to lose ‘two or three stone’ to fix his problems.

Miller responded: ‘I would say that but I would also say to Eamonn that he is too fat and he is a heart attack waiting to happen. He’s about to clonk me for that.’

But Eamonn wasn’t offended by the comments, responding: ‘I’m not because you know I agree with you.’

Miller said doctors should be ’empowered’ to give their patients the right advice for their health, even if they find it offensive.

Plus-size model Gemma Cruickshank said doctors should be more compassionate about their patients weight.

She revealed how she’d once lost 12 stone after receiving the help of a doctor who didn’t body-shame her, but encouraged her.

Gemma said: ‘It’s psychological and I think until we get our minds right the rest doesn’t follow.

‘Support is very important, inspiration, feeling like you can reach out, feeling like the support network is there.’
