EastEnders’ Jaz Deol confirms soap exit as his final emotional scenes air with character Kheerat Panesar being escorted away by police

EastEnders actor Jaz Deol’s exit was confirmed on Thursday night as his final emotional scenes aired on the BBC soap. 

The 33-year-old, who first appeared on the hit show three years ago playing Kheerat Panesar, was escorted away from Albert Square in handcuffs on the latest episode.

Kheerat left his family behind in floods of tears as police lead him away after he confessed to murdering Ranveer Gulati.

However Ranveer was actually killed by Ravi Gulati, but the eldest of the Panesar siblings confessed, hoping to stop his mum from going down for the crime.

Kheerat’s mother Suki was arrested for the murder but struggled with the idea of going to prison, so he spoke to Suki’s secret girlfriend Eve about taking the blame. 

In Thursday’s episode, Kheerat was slapped by his mother after she realised what his plan was.

She said: ‘You’re not just my son. You’re my heart. You’re the reason I get up every morning and the reason I count my blessings every night. 

‘I need your strength. I need you at my side if I’m going to get through this, so you promise me that this is over.’

However Kheerat didn’t want to listen and told the news to his siblings Ash and Vinny: ‘She’s going to need protecting especially from dad.’

Further into the show Kheerat said goodbye to his girlfriend Stacey Slater, telling her: ‘You’d do the same if it was your mum,’ he said as he said goodbye to her’. 

He added: ‘I’ve called the police – they’re on their way. If my mum goes to prison then my entire family falls apart and I can’t let that happen. I’m just sorry.’

Following this he bid everyone an emotional goodbye before being surrounded by police and escorted away leaving his family in tears. 

Stacey told him: ‘Don’t forget about me,’ to which he quickly replied: ‘I couldn’t even if I tried’. 

A BBC spokeswoman confirmed Kheerat’s exit, saying: ‘We can confirm that Jaz has left EastEnders and we wish him all the very best for the future.’
