EastEnders star Priya Davdra ‘could go  head-to-head with Bobby Brazier on Strictly’

EastEnders star Priya Davdra ‘could go head-to-head with co-star Bobby Brazier on Strictly Come Dancing as they are both singled out by bosses’

EastEnders stars Priya Davdra and Bobby Brazier could reportedly go head-to-head in the next series of Strictly Come Dancing as they are both lined up by bosses to join the lineup, according to The Mirror.

As bosses have been on a hunt to find a new star for the next series, it appeared they will pick another sensation from the BBC One soap’s cast.

Priya, 36, has reportedly caught the eye of Strictly’s producers following her groundbreaking role as Iqra Ahmed – Walford’s first Muslim lesbian.

‘Priya was singled out as a target for the casting team early in the process and they were keen. She is young, glamorous and would be a great fit for the show,’ a source told The Mirror.

It comes following reports on Friday that actor and model Bobby, 20 – who made his acting debut as Freddie Slater on soap – is rumoured to be signed up for the next series of the dancing contest.

But Priya’s future on the BBC One’s hit is still uncertain, as earlier last month the actress teased she might make a bombshell return to the show, after her exit last year.

She told The Sun: ‘I’m not dead. There’s always scope to come back. I think it [Iqra’s coming out] was a very important storyline and it had a huge impact.

She starred in the show for three years before bowing out to take another job opportunity, leaving viewers surprised.

She added: ‘I think Iqra was the first gay Muslim on the show, EastEnders has such a big platform.

‘I think it was a very important storyline and it made a huge impact because sometimes things like this are a bit taboo to talk about but I feel like this opened up conversations and raised a lot more awareness.’

Priya revealed that she made an effort to be mindful doing the storyline as she admitted that coming out as gay to a South Asian family is not often talked about.

She added that she worked with the show to tell the truth but to also be respectful.

It was first revealed in 2019 that EastEnders would introduce its first Muslim lesbian as Iqra’s secret text messages were revealed.

Bobby, who joined EastEnders in August last year, is the son of late Big Brother star Jade Goody – who tragically died in 2009 of cervical cancer at the age of 27.

His father is television presenter Jeff Brazier.

Jade shot to fame in 2002 on the third series of reality TV show Big Brother.

She finished fourth on the Channel 4 show and later entered it’s spin-off show Celebrity Big Brother in 2007 where she was deemed racist after making remarks about her Indian housemate.

Bobby is Jade’s eldest child from her relationship with his dad Jeff, with the pair also having a son Freddie in 2004 together before they went their separate ways shortly after.

In March, Bobby paid tribute to his late mother with a sweet Instagram post.

He called Jade his ‘guide’ as he shared some of his modelling shots on the social media platform.

Bobby wrote in the caption: ‘Genes on his side, god in his heart and goody as his guide.’

It comes after Bobby opened up about his late mother Jade and his opinion on the ‘nepo baby’ debate.

Bobby was just five years old at the time, and revealed that he bases his memory of his mum on what others tell him about her.
