This is the heart-melting moment two-year-old boys were filmed racing towards one another for a big best friend – ‘besties’ – hug.

Michael Cisneros shared the incredible encounter between Maxwell and Finnegan as they ran open-armed down a street to each other in New York City.

Since sharing it on Sunday it’s been viewed more than 11,000 times and drawn loving comments from strangers who adore the boys’ sweet friendship.  

They met just over a year ago Maxwell’s father Cisneros told ABC News, who stated they are ‘inseparable’ and partners in crime.

In another post, the dad explained that the pair were so excited in the video because they hadn’t seen one another in two days.

Cisneros wrote: ‘It’s Thursday. These two haven’t seen each other since Tuesday. So many feels, it’s beautiful. So thankful.’  

He added that they also share hobbies, both attending a weekly music event where they ‘love to dance — both are excellent dancers.’ 

‘When they are away from each other, they are always asking about one another,’ he told ABC. 

In the adorable clip, Maxwell and Finnegan can both be seen jogging towards each other giggling and laughing.

With their arms open-wide they edge closer before briefly pausing to give one another a long hug. 

‘My friend you are just adorable,’ Cisneros can be heard saying.

Then Maxwell points at Finnegan’s yellow truck toy, causing him to fiddle with it and squeal before they both continue running down the road.  

In the video post Cisneros wrote: ‘I have no idea how to make things go viral, for those that do……please share. 

‘This is just so beautiful. Finnegan + Maxwell= BESTIES!!! If we could all be like this.’

Now the clip has over 10,000 views, with more than 500 shares and around a hundred comments, and has left many in awe of the pair.  

Facebook user Taira Withani wrote: ‘Why in the world have we ever stopped showing how happy we are to see everybody like this everyday!’

In a another video of the two boys, they raced around holding hands before Finnegan shows Maxwell how to climb up a step and then jump off.
