Ed Sheeran receives a call to check he is complying with quarantine rules while recording a podcast

Ed Sheeran was interrupted during an interview when he received a call from the UK Home Office to ensure he was quarantining.

The star recently flew back to London from the US and he shared an insight into the strict government restrictions as he took the call mid-chat.

The clip showed Ed, 30, chatting to Harry Potter actors Oliver and James Phelps for their podcast Normal not Normal when he took the urgent call.

The government Covid officials spoke to the singer for a few minutes to confirm he was complying with the quarantine rules.

On the podcast, Ed took the call and apologised for having to pause the interview.

The singer said: ‘Wait, wait, government, hello?’ His manager Stuart Camp joked: ‘It’s like being called by your teacher.’

James also made light of the interruption and said: ‘I just had visions of when you’re hiding at your mate’s house and your mum calls to ask if you’re on your own.’

Ed looked almost unrecognisable in BTS snaps from the music video for new single Bad Habits – which he shared to his social media last week.

In the photos the singer rocked a vibrant pink suit and garish make-up as he dressed as a vampire for the video which was filmed on a deserted high street.

Ed put on a chilling display in the behind-the-scenes snaps as he fully embraced the haunting character.

In the BTS photos, the singer was seen strutting down the street with some companions before they all lined-up together staring into the distance.

Ed had been sharing several teasers of the video and his new track ahead of last Friday’s release.

Last week, the singer revealed he had to dye his signature ginger locks blonde for the video.
