It is the Shape Of You singer’s latest move to keep his £500,000 kidney-shaped pond a secret.

Neighbours complained this year that he was going to flout Suffolk Coastal District Council’s initial ban on him using it as a swimming pool.

They accused him of planning to use it to swim in with wife Cherry Seaborn and their friends after he won permission to build it on the understanding that it would provide a natural habitat for frogs, newts and dragonflies.

Although council chiefs approved the plans, they ruled that the site should not be put to other uses – and specifically forbade ‘recreational leisure such as swimming’.

Appealing the decision, the star had argued that he might be in breach of the condition when using a boat or getting in to clear branches or weeds, prompting the council to grant him permission.
