Eddie McGuire shows support for transgender contestant on Millionaire Hot Seat who hopes to use winnings for gender affirming surgery

Eddie McGuire was supportive of a transgender contestant who appeared on his gameshow, Millionaire Hot Seat, on Tuesday night. 

The television host sat down with Ted Atwood, a transgender man, who explained if he won ‘big money’ he’d like to use it for gender affirming surgery. 

‘Ideally, I’d like to get some gender affirming surgery. I’m trans and I’d like to be more myself,’ Ted explained. 

Ted went on to say that if he won, ‘big, big money’ he’d like to pay for the upcoming wedding of two friends in the United States. 

‘Fantastic!’ Eddie replied cheerily, before adding, ‘Ted, let’s go!’ and getting started with the game. 

Ted was also supported by his mother, who was seated in the audience and cheering him on.  

At one stage, Eddie encouraged to show off his vocal talents, with the young performer belting out a few lines of a song. 

‘Wow! Absolutely sensational. Great stuff,’ Eddie raved, adding, ‘Do you wanna go on with your singing?’ 

Ted replied that it’s a hobby more than a career ambition, explaining, ‘I just do it for fun.’

The first question was on cricket, which Ted is well versed on as his mother is a big fan of the sport. 

Unfortunately it all came undone for the plucky contestant, who passed on the $1,500 question and left today’s game.
