Sir Mick Jagger returned the £1 million advance for his autobiography because he found the past too painful to relive, but now another of Carla Bruni’s former lovers has written his memoirs — and she’s said to be seething.
Guitarist Louis Bertignac from 1980s band Telephone, who was her first rock star boyfriend, has published a tell-all autobiography in his native France.
The book, called Jolie Petite Histoire [Nice Little Story], does not spare the blushes of Carla, 54, who later married the then French president, Nicolas Sarkozy.
Bertignac, 68, claims the Italian-born model-turned-singer, who is heiress to the fortune created by the Italian tyre manufacturing company CEAT, had a secret nose job to boost her career before she was famous.
She denied having gone under the knife when asked about it in 2014, saying: ‘I would do surgery if I was sure it would work, but I’m not sure it does. They look strange, the women — they don’t look younger.’

Bertignac claims her vanity stems from being ‘someone who grew up in a universe of billionaires, surrounded by servants, who had no idea of the cost of things . . . her problems were those of a little rich girl . . . if she had the slightest spot on her cheek, she would hide in her bedroom’.
He also suggests that Bruni, who is godmother to his daughter Lola, was essentially a groupie who turned up unannounced at his home, demanding to be let in, which was how their two-year relationship began.
Bertignac also alleges that when she was dating Eric Clapton, she was left sulking because they’d been invited to a party at Mick Jagger’s home, and Clapton didn’t want them to go as he knew she was a huge fan of the libidinous Rolling Stones singer.

She went on to have a seven-year relationship with Jagger until she grew tired of his womanising.
Bruni declared in 2020 that she jumped into bed with President Sarkozy, as soon as their second date.
‘It was love at first sight,’ she explained. ‘I can’t believe I got that at 40 years old — it was crazy. I would never have thought that could happen at that age.’
Dame Joanna Lumley has been painted by celebrated artists including Anthony Palliser but doesn’t buy the works.
‘I never want the paintings of myself — I do see it as a sort of vanity,’ she tells me at the opening of the Royal Society of Portrait Painters Annual Exhibition at Mall Galleries near Buckingham Palace.
But the Ab Fab star, who lives in London with her husband, conductor and composer Stephen Barlow, explains: ‘I do have lots of paintings because I love art.’

Jamie: Our Xmas-rated first date
He’s the dashing star of Fifty Shades Of Grey, but Jamie Dornan risked scaring off his future wife, Amelia Warner, by wearing a Christmas jumper on their first date — even though it was in sunny Los Angeles in February.
‘I was worried that she wouldn’t remember me,’ the actor, 40, explains.
‘I felt I should make myself memorable.
‘And I still remember seeing her reaction when she opened the door. I could tell she got the point of me and liked me, even though she probably thought I was a bit weird.’

Classical music can make life sound better, but best-selling novelist Philip Pullman has attacked broadcaster Bobby Seagull for daring to ask fans if they use it in the background.
‘When you were studying for exams, writing essays or just trying to create an environment for learning, what were your best pieces of classical music to listen to?’ asked Seagull, 38, who shot to fame in 2017 after his energetic appearances on University Challenge went viral.
Pullman, 75, author of His Dark Materials trilogy, chided him online: ‘That’s not what classical music is for. Treat it with respect.’

The Good Parenting Guide will be beating a path to Elvis Costello’s door after the singer struck a bargain with his 15-year-old twin sons.
‘Last night we did a trade with our boys, in that Diana [Krall, his jazz pianist wife] and I would watch ten minutes of cat memes if they’d listen to five Charlie Parker records,’ he says.
‘We told them they’d thank us for it later, and you know what? They loved them.’ Whether or not the cat memes made Elvis LOL is not disclosed.
