EDEN CONFIDENTIAL: Lord Snowdon enjoys Valentine ‘double’ date with two mystery women

Valentine’s Day is a time for romance, and Lord Snowdon chose to spend his with two mystery women.

The Queen’s nephew, who is professionally known as David Linley, was spotted emerging from Oswald’s private members’ club in London’s Mayfair with his female companions.

Furniture-maker Lord Snowdon, 60, was previously seen with the curly-haired woman last summer but was reluctant to reveal her name.

The father-of-two became an eligible divorcee following the end of his 26-year marriage to Serena — the daughter of multi-millionaire landowner the 12th Earl of Harrington, Viscount Petersham — in 2020.

Lord Snowdon once disclosed that money ‘drives him, and always has’.

Marc Quinn, who once made a bronze statue of model Kate Moss in a compromising yoga position, was known as one of the trailblazing members of the Young British Artists movement.

But for the past five years he has been embroiled in a bitter row with his ex-girlfriend and muse Jenny Bastet, 32, who has accused him of exploiting her body for his art.

Now I can reveal the artist, 58, has destroyed some of the artwork he made of her, thought to have been worth hundreds of thousands of pounds.

Dancer Bastet said Quinn’s lawyers Harbottle & Lewis have confirmed that he has demolished a painting of her eyeball and all sculptures of her head, except one which she is to be given.

Bastet says it is a ‘very small victory’. ‘He has made it clear via his lawyers that he will never show my naked bronze sculptures or destroy them,’ she adds.

Bastet likened his use of the sculptures without her consent to ‘revenge porn’.

‘He does not see the sculptures as my body. He sees them as his works of art. It is his way of tormenting me, to hold power over me,’ she tells me. She says she feels ‘sick to the stomach’ that she doesn’t know how many naked sculptures of her body exist.

The couple split acrimoniously in 2017, according to friends. Earlier that year, Quinn had put on a London exhibition, Untrimmed, which was inspired by Bastet’s body. Bastet says she is unable to afford to take Quinn to court, but she plans to write a memoir about her ordeal.

In 2020, Quinn drew attention for creating a statue of a protester to replace the one of slave trader Edward Colston which was toppled during Black Lives Matter protests in Bristol.

Both Quinn and his lawyers did not respond when asked for comment.

Gillian Anderson seems to have had the best of both worlds, what with her being born in Chicago and brought up in London.

But the actress, who played Margaret Thatcher in The Crown, confesses that many people have been left perplexed by her ability to anglicise or Americanise her accent at any given moment.

‘[My accent] is something that, at various times, I’ve tried to control but I thought: “This is freaking people out too much.” When I try to control it I sound like an idiot,’ Anderson, 53, revealed during a talk at the British Library in London’s Kings Cross.

She adds: ‘[English] feels the most natural when I’m here, and American feels the most natural when I’m there.’

Many actresses have spoken about being typecast or losing roles to younger women when they reach a certain age.

But it’s not something that Absolutely Fabulous star Harriet Thorpe, 64, is worried about, as she only says yes to parts that allow her to be ‘crazy’.

‘I only play psychotic people. They’re never normal. They’re always insane,’ she tells me at the gala opening of the play Steve in London’s Covent Garden.

She adds: ‘An ingenue career lasts for very little time. If you’re a young, pretty thing, there’s always somebody younger and prettier. If you’re a crazy lady, you go on for ever.’

The surprise decision of Lord’s Cricket Ground to call time on the annual Harrow vs. Eton cricket match after some 200 years has stumped Old Etonian Ben Goldsmith.

‘An anachronism, yes, but a 203-year-old one, totally harmless, why scrub it? What for? Money? Optics?’ the financier, 41, complains.

The son of the late billionaire tycoon Sir James Goldsmith never made the cut to play at Lord’s himself, but his sister Jemima was once bowled over by Pakistani cricketer Imran Khan — her ex-husband.

Lord’s has signalled the final innings for the Oxford vs. Cambridge Varsity match, too.

As Princess Diana in the hit Netflix drama The Crown, Emma Corrin appears demure, but in real life, the actress is one edgy fashionista.

The Kent-born star, 26, was spotted in Central London wearing a heavily studded green Miu Miu coat and a personalised pink Hades scarf with the letter ‘E’ on.

The Golden Globe winner is next set to appear alongside singer Harry Styles in the film My Policeman, an adaptation of Bethan Roberts’s 2012 novel.

The pair will play a couple whose relationship is tested when Styles’s character embarks on a homosexual affair.

Does an iconic designer like Donatella Versace really need nudity to sell her handbags?

It would appear the old adage about sex selling still rings true for the 66-year-old, who shared a picture of scantily clad model sisters Gigi, 26, and Bella Hadid, 25.

The Garden of Edenthemed shoot for Versace’s spring 2022 campaign sees the siblings protecting their modesty with bags worth £1,830 each.

‘Family is always at the heart of everything I do, which is why I love Bella and Gigi,’ the designer said.

‘They exemplify the strength between sisters, and share that message to our Versace sisterhood worldwide.’

As one of Margate’s famous residents, Tracey Emin was more than happy to offer £27,000 to save a local children’s playground in need of refurbishment.

But I can disclose her generous offer to revamp the award-winning Viking ship playground has been turned down by Thanet council.

Not only has the Kent governing body refused her generous donation, they have decided to demolish the playground completely and spend £169,000 on a new activity area elsewhere.

‘Margate definitely needs a playground,’ Miss Emin, 58, tells me of the shocking snub. ‘I am going to financially support building a new playground somewhere else.’
