Edie Falco admits she didn’t know Avatar: The Way of Water hadn’t come out yet

Avatar: The Way of Water injected a jolt of life to the box office over the weekend with a $134.1 million domestic opening weekend and $434.5 million worldwide, though that came as quite the surprise to co-star Edie Falco.

The 59-year-old actress plays General Ardmore in the long-awaited sequel, one of the few human characters in the film that explores the Na’vi characters on Pandora.

While promoting the film on The View on Friday, Falco revealed she filmed her role over four years ago… and she thought the sequel had already come out years earlier.

‘The second Avatar I shot four years ago. I’ve been busy and doing stuff. Somebody mentioned ‘Avatar’ and I thought, “Oh, I guess it came out and it didn’t do very well because I didn’t hear anything about it,”‘ Falco began.

‘It happens! Someone recently said, “Avatar” is coming out,” and I said, “Oh, it hasn’t come out yet?”‘ she said, before joking, ‘I will never work again because I said that.’

General Ardmore is the new commander of the Resources Development Administration, the organization that lead the first mission to Pandora.

When asked if her character is a villain, Falco said, ‘From where I stand right now, I would describe her as a villain, but I don’t think that’s what she thought.’

‘She was going there for what she thought was doing good for Earth, but it was certainly not doing good for Pandora,’ Falco added.

Falco also confirmed that she was ‘disappointed’ when she learned she was going to be playing a human, adding, ‘Well, I wanted to be blue, you know.’

‘I was excited I was going to be blue and very tall, so I didn’t get either of those things, but I did get that exoskeleton, and that was pretty cool,’ Falco said of the high-tech suit she was seen in during a clip they showed on The View.

She also opened up about her role playing the mother of Pete Davidson’s character on the upcoming series Bupkis.

‘He’s adorable. He’s just completely adorable. He’s like 90 feet tall and he’s got this giant smile, very self-deprecating. He’s funny but his humor is always, the joke is always on him, in a way,’ Falco said.
