  • Roger Light of Pinellas Park, Florida filmed the moment an 8-foot-alligator decided to cross a flooded roadway
  • On August 15, Light was driving his work vehicle near an intersection when he noticed resident’s standing outside in the rain with their camera phones out
  • That’s when he saw the alligator crossing through the roadway towards his passenger side
  • The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission told Fox 13 that the alligator was removed by a trapper

An eight-foot-alligator in Florida stopped traffic after it decided to cross a busy Florida roadway during a rainstorm.

Roger Light of Pinellas Park was driving his work vehicle on Thursday, August 15, when he came to an intersection.

He noticed residents standing in the pouring rain with their camera phones out, and cars in the right lane backing up. 

That’s when he saw the gator coming his way.

Light wrote in a Facebook post, ‘This alligator scared the crap out of me when I saw it was coming towards my work vehicle when I was stopped at the light in front of WaWa…’

He said, ‘I was wondering why people were out video taping in the pouring rain and people backing up in the right turn lane that the gator was in. That’s when I saw it in passenger side coming towards me.’

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission told Fox 13 that the alligator was removed by a trapper.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission says that alligators can be found in all 67 of Florida’s counties. 

The maintain that ‘serious injuries’ caused by alligators are rare in the Sunshine State, but calling the Nuisance Alligator Hotline will dispatch a trapper to take care of the situation.
