Eight people and a dog have been injured after a balcony suddenly collapsed during an outdoor lunch that went horribly wrong.
Emergency services rushed to the home on O’Donohue Road in Anglesea, west of Torquay in Victoria, just before 2pm on Saturday.
‘It’s believed the group were lunching on the balcony when it collapsed, causing all eight people to fall about 2.5m,’ a Victoria Police spokeswoman told the Geelong Advertiser.
‘Three men, three women and two teenage girls were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.’
Ms McLeod said crews from the State Emergency Service had cordoned off the area and a building surveyor is set to attend the scene to examine the structural damage.
Crews from the SES and firefighters from Fire Rescue and Victoria as well as crews from the Country Fire Authority are also at the scene.
More to come.
