‘One’s got a knife!’ Horrified shoppers watch as a group of men violently brawl outside Westfield in Sydney’s west – as cops hunt for a tradie wearing gloves

  • Eight people have been charged over a violent brawl in Western Sydney in June 
  • The brawl happened outside the Westfield shopping centre during lunchtime 
  • Police are searching for another man they believe can assist with inquiries 

Eight people have been charged following a violent brawl that erupted outside a Westfield Shopping Centre in Parramatta. 

The brawl involved two groups of males – two of which had knives – and blocked traffic on the busy street near the bus interchange at about 1pm on June 18. 

A photo of another man who officers believe can assist in their inquiries has been released by police. 

They are asking the public if anyone knows the man, who was wearing an orange jacket and work boots on the day of the brawl, to contact them. 

Police are asking the public for help to identify this man they believe can help with inquiries 

Traffic on the busy Church Street and Argyle Street intersection was halted by the violent fist fight – which caused one group to retreat into their car after the larger group surrounded them. 

In footage captured of the fight, a man can be seen to punch the car’s window as the other group drove away.

‘That one’s got a knife,’ a woman can be heard yelling in the video. 

‘Yeah look… he’s got a knife in his hand,’ another person says. 

Two men, aged 21 and 19, have been charged with use etc offensive weapon with intent to commit indictable offence, wield knife in a public place, affray, and armed with intent commit indictable offence.

The older man also with negligent driving (no death or grievous bodily harm). Both are currently refused bail to appear at Blacktown Local Court and Parramatta Local Court on Thursday 22 August 2019.. 

Two men, 22 and 23, were arrested at Parramatta and charged with affray. They have been refused bail to appear in court July 25. 

A 16-year-old has also been charged with affray and is to appear in children’s court on July 2. 

Three more males, aged 23, 21, and 16, have been granted bail to appear in court on separate days from July to September.
