A baby boy has died after being found unconscious at a fire station.

Paramedics were called to the Palmerston Fire Station in Darwin’s outer suburbs about 8pm on Tuesday to find firefighters performing CPR on the child, the ABC reported.

The baby was taken to hospital but he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Investigation teams have established a crime scene at an address in Woodroffe.

St John Ambulance spokesman Craig Garroway said paramedics attempted to resuscitate the baby.

‘But unfortunately (he) had passed away and there was no more we could do for her, so a very sad night for our paramedics,’ he said.

Northern Territory Police Superintendent James O’Brien said the cause of the baby boy’s death was yet to be determined.

‘A crime scene has been established out in the suburb of Woodroffe,’ he said.
