An elderly man is dead and a 78-year-old woman seriously injured after a stabbing in South Australia.
Police were called to the McLaren Vale home, around 33km south of Adelaide, at 7pm on Tuesday to reports of a serious assault.
When patrols arrived they found an 81-year-old man dead at the scene and the woman, who was taken to the Flinders Medical Centre, in a serious condition.
A 22-year-old man known to the couple was arrested and charged with murder and attempted murder.
He is scheduled to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
South Australia Police confirmed the attack was ‘not random’ and ‘all parties are known to each other’.
