Elizabeth Warren’s campaign HQ in New Hampshire is broken into as she surges ahead of Joe Biden by seven per cent in national poll

  • The office building that houses Elizabeth Warren’s Manchester, New Hampshire headquarters was broken into, but it didn’t look to be politically motivated
  • A new Quinnipiac survey showed her widening her lead over former Vice President Joe Biden by seven points
  • Warren also got rated the top Ohio debate performer by the largest group of Democrats and Democratic-leaning voters, the poll showed

Sen. Elizabeth Warren’s Manchester, New Hampshire headquarters was broken into, as the Massachusetts Democrat opened up her biggest lead yet over former Vice President Joe Biden.

On Thursday, Warren’s campaign said that several offices in the Manchester building where her office is located were broken into Wednesday night, though ‘we have no reason to believe this was targeted to the campaign or is anything further than a regular break-in,’ Communications Director Andrew Taverrite told the Associated Press.

A poll that came out Thursday contained better news, with Warren widening her lead over Biden to seven points.

Sen. Elizabeth Warren saw her Manchester, New Hampshire campaign office broken into Wednesday and then strong poll numbers come out on Thursday

Former Vice President Joe Biden has been overtaken in a new national poll by Sen. Elizabeth Warren, who is now besting him among respondents by seven points

Former Vice President Joe Biden has been overtaken in a new national poll by Sen. Elizabeth Warren, who is now besting him among respondents by seven points

A Quinnipiac survey showed Warren with 28 percent support among Democratic and Democratic leaning voters, while Biden received 21 percent support.

Warren had pulled ahead of Biden in an October 14 poll – conducted before the fourth Democratic debate – but by only there points, with Warren garnering 30 percent support versus Biden’s 27 percent.

The October 15 debate, held outside Columbus, Ohio, was the first time Democratic voters got to see Warren operate in front-runner status, as her Democratic rivals went after her by name and piled on.

While Warren’s overall support is a smaller percentage, she’s now comfortably in first place.

Sen. Bernie Sanders, in third place, saw a bump too.

Sanders stood at 11 percent in mid-October, having suffered from a heart attack earlier in the month.

The Ohio debate was his return to the campaign trail and he’s now receiving 15 percent support.

He was also endorsed by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on Saturday at a packed New York City rally.

Sanders is followed by South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg with 10 percent, Sen. Kamala Harris with 5 percent and Sen. Amy Klobuchar with 3 percent.

No other candidate polled above 1 percent.

There are 18 Democrats total vying for the nomination.

‘Former Vice President Joe Biden slips, Senator Elizabeth Warren steadies, Senator Bernie Sanders gets his groove back, and Mayor Pete Buttigieg breaks back into double digits,’ Quinnipiac University Polling Analyst Mary Snow said in a statement.

The survey suggested that the debates are factoring into the polling. Quinnipiac found that 29 percent of respondents watched all or most of the debates, while another 43 percent paid close attention to news stories about them.

Among the 72 percent of Democrats and Democratic-leaning voters who paid attention to the Ohio debate, 26 percent said Warren performed best.

Buttigieg got the second best ranking at 17 percent, while Biden came in third at 12 percent. Sanders closely followed Biden at 11 percent and 8 percent of respondents said Klobuchar was the winner.

Rep. Tulsi Gabbard topped the candidates when respondents were asked who did the worst. Fifteen percent pointed to Gabbard, while 11 percent said Biden, who got the second worst rating.

‘Despite coming under attack at the debate, Senator Elizabeth Warren was viewed as doing the best job, followed by South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigeig, which may have helped his standing in the primary,’ Snow said.
