Taking to her blog on Get The Gloss, Elle said she takes hot water and lemon every morning after meditating for 20 to 30 minutes.

She also takes a daily dose of her Super Elixir in filtered water- the greens powder made with 45 ‘bio-live wholefood ingredients’ that she says have helped boost her ‘energy levels, sleep patterns and complexion’.

‘Because different greens have different benefits, I try to eat a few different varieties every day. For example, kale is a good source of iron and calcium, while broccoli, sprouts, cabbage and spinach are high in vitamin C,’ she added.

What are the benefits of taking horsetail?

Horsetail is a thin and sterile perennial plant capable of absorbing unique minerals from the earth like Silica which are not found in many other plants.

Silica is a beauty trace mineral for healthy strong connective tissue – the muscles, tendons, hair and nails. Necessary for the repair of bony tissues, Silica helps to “fix” calcium, so that the body can use it to repair collagen, strengthen mature bones and help form new bones.

Elle said she is also careful to eat ‘whatever my body is craving’ and eats fish as her protein source as she doesn’t eat chicken or red meat.

Her fish of choice is sardines which she often pairs with a big salad with kale, sunflower seeds and avocado.

Elle also takes care to eat a lot of walnuts – 12 to 15 per day – as they ‘give you 95 per cent of your daily essential fatty acids’.

The most interesting tip, however, is that Elle takes horsetail every day to keep her complexion glowing and radiant.

‘Its unique beauty mineral silica, that aids the repair of body tissues and collagen,’ she said.

‘It is also said to strengthen bones. It is one of the key ingredients in The Super Elixir so I take it every single day. Easy!’

For snacks, Elle said she will often enjoy a nourishing smoothie with almond milk or avocado, dates with herbal tea or almond butter with celery.

However, she is not one to turn down a sweet treat when craving one, with the model opting for dark chocolate or vegan ice cream when she feels like indulging.
