Ellen DeGeneres hilariously documents her attempts to complete a 4,000 piece puzzle

After suspending production on her hit talk show due to the ongoing coronavirus threat, Ellen DeGeneres is trying to stay entertained with a 4,000-piece puzzle.

‘I haven’t done them in a long time, but it shouldn’t be that hard,’ the 62-year-old comedian said, while wearing a Harry Styles band T-shirt in her expansive living room on Monday.

In the footage shot by her wife Portia de Rossi on Instagram, the famous host asks the model to pan to the rain pouring down in their backyard and talks about being bored during the self-quarantine.

Having a go: Ellen DeGeneres tried her hand out at a 4,000 piece puzzle as she self-quarantined with her wife Portia de Rossi

While she initially believed the complex puzzle would only take about an hour, she updated her 85.3 million Instagram followers to let them know she wouldn’t able to finish because of a missing piece.

‘Well, guess what. I attempted to do the puzzle, because when I attempt to do something I do it, that’s the person I am,’ she said in a video posted nearly two hours later. ‘I counted the pieces and there’s only 3,9999, not 4,000. I don’t know about you, but when I get to the end of the puzzle and feel so good and accomplished and there’s one missing, it’s not fun.’

As she quit the puzzle for the first time, she explains she will be following her spouses’ suggestion to read a book.

‘I put everything away, and then found the missing piece under the table. I’m back to doing the puzzle,’ Ellen shared in a third video, adding she briefly began to read Moby Dick.

‘I don’t want to read about a whale. I mean, they’re pretty, but no,’ the Finding Dory star joked.

Where did it go? While she initially believed the complex puzzle would only take about an hour, she updated her 85.3 million Instagram followers to let them know she wouldn't able to finish because of a missing piece

As she gets back into the swing of things and pokes fun at Portia for only filming, not helping, as she advises others to flip their pieces first and dubs herself ‘Ellen Do it DeGeneres.’

In her fifth follow-up video hours later, she sports a different cozy ensemble, which includes black sweats and an over-sized crewneck sweatshirt and a very uncompleted puzzle.

The entertainer continues to lament her struggles in the video captioned, ‘They don’t call me Ellen ‘Not Stupid’ DeGeneres for nothing.’

‘Look how much I have left,’ she explains, while scrambling to come up with an excuse to abandon her project. ‘So what I realized is 4,000 pieces is ridiculous, I don’t have a table big enough! Who does? Whoever gave us this puzzle, and I’m going to find out who, is ridiculous.’

After throwing in the towel, the star took to Instagram on Tuesday to show off a more relaxing activity.

In her latest picture, Ellen looked much more relaxed, as she cuddled up with her three dogs on the couch, just ‘six feet away’ from Portia.

While the talk show host seemed at ease in her olive long sleeve and plaid pajama bottoms, she already seemed eager to return to shooting after announcing that The Ellen Show would ‘suspend production’ as a result of the growing seriousness of coronavirus on Friday.

‘So, after some more thought, we have decided to suspend production completely until March 30th. We just want to take every precaution to ensure that we do our part to keep everyone healthy,’ she wrote on Twitter.

News of the suspension comes a day after the popular talk show announced they would follow in the steps of Jeopardy and Live With Kelly And Ryan by scrapping their live audience.

DeGeneres added: ‘I love you guys, and can’t wait to come back. I’m already bored.’
