Ellie Goulding has revealed she wants go into acting, and has set her sights on a role in the West End.

The Starry-Eyed hitmaker, 33, expressed her interest in reinventing her career during an interview with The Sun on Friday, as she reflected on how much she’d enjoyed acting as a kid.

She explained: ‘I acted a lot when I was young and I really enjoyed it. I loved playing different characters.’

‘It’s probably a very different kind of confidence from being on stage. But I’d like to see if I’ve still got it.

‘I would probably be in a play. I’ve seen a lot of plays in the last couple of years in London and I’d like to start there.’

Ellie added that she didn’t feel a blockbuster would be the right choice for her to start with, despite singers like Rita Ora and Rihanna already venturing into that territory successfully.

While she’s expressed an interest in acting Ellie is still firmly thriving in her music career, as she released the video for her new single, Love I’m Given on Wednesday.

The singer pulled out all the stops for the visual accompaniment to her latest track from her album Brightest Blue, which showed Ellie boxing in a gym during lockdown.

For one look, Ellie wore a dramatic gold floor-length dress which draped off her shoulders and featured layers upon layers of shimmering metallic material.

The songstress also modelled a glittering figure-hugging dress which was embellished with thousands of tiny beads.

The glamorous outfits clashed with raw footage of Ellie doing a boxing session at the gym, which was filmed in dark lighting.

Ellie teamed up with director Rianne White, who worked with her on Flux last year, alongside director of production Rina Yang to shoot the music video for the emotive pop ballad.
