She’s one of Australia’s most recognisable sports stars.

But cricketer Ellyse Perry, 31, has revealed that she struggles with ‘self-doubt’ everyday and her own self-worth both on and off the cricket pitch.

Ellyse’s candid admission comes as she was recently named as L’Oréal Paris’ Woman of Worth 2021 and dubbed ‘arguably the best athlete in Australia’.

‘I feel self-doubt every day, be it at training, in a match or in a social situation,’ the 31-year-old told Stellar on Friday. 

She acknowledged that many people go through esteem issues in their day-to-day lives and admits her own self-worth has changed as she’s gotten older.

‘[My] self-worth is forever in flux,’ the cricketer said. ‘I think it changes as you get older and view the world – and yourself – differently. It’s always evolving.’

When asked how she deals with issues relating to her self-worth, Ellyse explained she takes a deep breath and thinks about her loved ones.

However, she also confessed that she often feels a lot of guilt when thinking about her family, as she spends long periods of time away from them due to her demanding sporting profession.

The sports star added that she tries to ‘repay’ her family by constantly ‘working’ on her relationships and performing at her best on the cricket pitch.

Last month, Ellyse became Australia’s most capped female cricket player and the first Australian cricketer to claim 300 wickets and score 5000 runs at an international level.
