Elton John’s mum leaves half her fortune to his former PA

Sir Elton John’s mother left half of her £534,000 fortune to the former chauffeur and PA blamed for sparking their nine-year feud, it has been claimed.

Sheila Farebrother, who died aged 92 in December last year, reportedly left her son only two urns and some family photographs in her will.

But Elton’s former assistant Bob Halley – whose departure from the star’s entourage in 2008 triggered a family rift – was left half of all Sheila’s wealth.

The other half was bequeathed to Elton’s half-brother Frederick Farebrother and Sheila’s friend Deborah Woodward, according to a report in The Sun.

A source told the paper that Elton, 70, is ‘worth £300 million’ and so is not concerned about the money, but added: ‘It very much looks like Sheila was determined to make one final point to her son in her will.’

Sheila reportedly changed her will three weeks before dying on December 4.

The only reference to Elton was the following paragraph: ‘I give to my son Elton John free of all taxes my two Batignani blue/gold urns and my photographs of mother in uniform and grandfather in uniform.’

Sheila blamed Elton’s husband, David Furnish, for the departure of Bob, who she said was ‘like a son’.

Sheila replied: ‘I said to him, “And you think more of that f***ing thing you married than your own mother”.’

Sheila also hired an Elton John impersonator for her 90th birthday party in an apparent dig at her son.

But there appeared to be a warming of relations by May last year, with the singer tweeting: ‘Dear Mum, Happy Mother’s Day! So happy we are back in touch. Love, Elton.’

When she died, the singer wrote a heartfelt message thanking her ‘for everything’ and stressing that he was ‘in shock’.

He added: ‘I will miss you so much’.
