Em Rusciano’s 2Day FM sees shock BOOST in third  radio ratings survey despite off-air drama

Embattled 2Day FM breakfast host Em Rusciano has woken up to a surprise boost in radio ratings, following weeks of off-air drama.

After reports alleged the 39-year-old could be sacked following comments she made about co-hosts Grant Denyer and Ed Kavalee last month, the trio’s Sydney breakfast show was up a modest 0.5 percent in the third ratings survey for 2018.

It was good enough for a 4.9 percent share of the overall Sydney FM breakfast market, while a slight dip couldn’t knock longstanding leaders Kyle Sandilands and Jackie O Henderson off the top spot.

She’s here to stay! Em Rusciano’s 2Day show sees shock BOOST in third radio ratings survey despite off-air drama… as a slight dip in listeners can’t keep KIIS’ Kyle and Jackie O off top FM spot

The KIIS duo lost about as many listeners as Em, Grant & Ed gained, shedding 0.4 percent of their audience since April’s survey to claim 11.9 percent of the market.

The drama that followed Em complaints about co-hosts and network bosses’ in an interview with Wil Anderson’s Wilosophy podcast in May has clearly not negatively impacted the numbers.

The former reality star told Wil the Hit Network’s decision to hire Grant and Ed came out of the blue, leaving her with the intimidating task of generating chemistry with two people she’d never met.

‘It was hectic. It was the Em Rusciano Radio Show – it was my show!’ And then all of a sudden Ed’s anchoring and the show’s called ‘The 2Day FM Breakfast Show,’ she said.

A source subsequently told Daily Mail Australia Em had been called in to a meeting with senior management regarding her conduct.

Unconfirmed reports alleged Em may be axed from the show, with media personality Ash London tipped as her replacement.

It’s unclear whether the promising result from Tuesday’s survey would be factored into any network decision regarding the personality’s employment.

The biggest smiles on Tuesday morning should be on the faces of WSFM’s Brendan ‘Jonesy’ Jones and Amanda Keller, who saw the biggest gain at 9.4 percent (up 1.3%).

It’s the closest KIIS FM’s Kyle & Jackie O Show has come to being knocked off the top spot for some time and the result helped WSFM to earn the crown of most listened to network when factoring in audience across the whole day.

The rest of the pack are much further back, with Triple M’s Grill Team pipping Nova 96.9’s Fitzy & Wippa, with 6.5 percent (no change) and 6.4 percent (- 0.5) respectively.

Smooth FM registered 5.8 percent, losing a significant 0.8 percent, while ABC’s national youth broadcaster Triple J continued its dramatic descent, losing a further 0.1 to register 4.2 percent.
