Emerson Royal could be granted surprise Tottenham debut by Nuno Espirito Santo against Crystal Palace with up to SEVEN Spurs stars set to be ruled-out after international break decimated squad

  • Spurs travel across London to Selhurst Park to play Crystal Palace on Saturday
  • Nuno Espirito Santo could be missing up to seven players for the match

  • He could play his first match on Saturday in Espirito Santo uses him to fill-in

On Saturday, 11 days into his Tottenham career, Emerson Royal is in line to make his Spurs debut after arriving on deadline day.

The Brazilian completed his £25.7m move from Barcelona at the last minute but has settled into training at the north Londoners’ Enfield training round.

Spurs return to Premier League action sitting top of the league before facing Crystal Palace at the weekend, though Nuno Espirito Santo has a slimmer squad to pick from.

Emerson Royal could wind-up in the Tottenham team for his debut on Saturday afternoon

Giovani Lo Celso, Cristian Romero and Davinson Sanchez were locked away in isolation upon their returns from Argentina and Colombia duty, while Son Heung-min is the headline doubt after picking up an injury training with South Korea.

Holland’s Steven Bergwjin and England under-21’s Oliver Skipp and Ryan Sessegnon returned with problems too. At best Espirito Santo will be without three, but seven stars could be sidelined for the Selhurst Park trip.

This could now be Emerson Royal’s chance to impress his new boss and lock down a place for the always fierce London derby against Chelsea.

Japhet Tanganga has been Nuno’s first choice so far, but Royal is enthusiastic and ready for his shot in the team.

Royal was hurt by Barcelona’s decision to boot him out just months after signing him, explained by the crumbling Nou Camp clob’s desperate scrambling for funds, but has warmed to life in north London.

The right-back wrote on Instragram after arriving: ‘I proudly arrived at this club, that welcomed me with arms wide open.

‘I am very grateful and I will give it back, for sure, with all my strength.’
