Emily Blunt discussed her childhood battle with a stutter as she hosted the 13th Annual American Institute for Stuttering Gala in New York.

The Quiet Place actress, 36, has been vocal about her own problems with stuttering as a child, and revealed she overcame it by observing television actors and practicing in a mirror. 

‘Because I couldn’t speak fluently, I watched and listened… I’d be on the Tube, and I’d wonder about people and invent back stories for everyone,’ she told Harpers Bazaar.

”There’s always been a natural desire to walk in the shoes of others… It started quite young, because it was the only tool I had to speak properly. 

‘I was that kid, upstairs in my room, trying out stuff in the mirror. But I’d never tell anyone about it. It was always very private.’ 

Emily hosted the charity event, which provides universally affordable speech therapy to people who stutter.   

The star amped up the glamour in a pink dress as she showed off her impressive style in the decadent frock, which consisted of a pleated skirt with lace detail and a pussybow neck.

Showing off her petite figure in the stunning ensemble, Emily added a pop of red  with her skyscraper stilettos.

Emily accessorised her look with statement pearlescent flower earrings and an array of dazzling rings.

Wearing her blonde her in loose curls, the Hollywood star opted for a dusting of blusher and a pink lip.

Emily’s husband John recently confirmed that he will direct a sequel to A Quiet Place, which he will once again star in alongside his wife. 

Krasinski — who starred, directed and co-wrote the original movie — confirmed the new film with an Instagram post captioned, ‘time to go back. #PartII.’

Millicent Simmonds and Noah Jupe, who played their children in the film, are also set to return for the sequel which is scheduled for release on May 15, 2020.
