EMILY PRESCOTT: Jude Law quits his star-studded north London celebrity enclave

It was once London’s most star-studded street, home to the likes of George Michael, Kate Moss and Jamie Oliver over the years.

But one-time celebrity enclave The Grove in Highgate, North London, has lost another famous resident after Jude Law sold his mansion for £13 million.

I understand the Fantastic Beasts actor, his wife Phillipa Coan and their two young children have now bought a country pad.

Land Registry documents show that the father-of-seven transferred the deeds to a software tycoon in November. He’s a multi-millionaire, but hardly cut from the showbiz cloth locals have become accustomed to.

Residents are used to seeing A-list names on the cobbled street, but there has been a celebrity exodus since George Michael died in 2016. He is buried in the nearby gothic cemetery.

Kate Moss sold up in 2021 and moved to the Cotswolds after being paid £11 million

Jude’s departure appears to spell the end of an era for the Georgian terrace, which was built in 1688.

In June last year, Jamie Oliver sold up and moved permanently to his stately pile in Essex. Kate Moss sold up in 2021.

Jamie’s former property was bought last summer for £15 million. In November The Mail on Sunday reported that it was being redeveloped by Soho Estates.

Kate Moss sold her home at No 3 for £11 million, after deciding to move full-time to her second home in the Cotswolds.

I hear Kate’s daughter Lila, 20, said she was surprised by her mother’s ‘sudden’ decision to move and recounted memories of growing up on the road and swimming in George Michael’s pool.

Kate and George connected their two properties with a ladder over the shared wall in their back gardens.

After throwing a final wild party at The Grove for her 18th birthday, Lila lamented: ‘I remember playing hide and seek in this house when it was empty, kind of like it is now.’

George was notorious for throwing all-night parties when he lived at his seven-bedroom house at The Grove, where guests included ex-Spice Girl Geri Horner and Spandau Ballet star Martin Kemp.

After George died (at another of his homes, in Oxfordshire), his house on The Grove, previously owned by Annie Lennox, was bought by wealthy Wham! fan Stephen Cameron for £19 million. Other notable Grove residents have included musician Sting and his film producer wife Trudie Styler.
