Emily Skye, 33, shares transformation photo five months after giving birth

Gold Coast fitness star Emily Skye gave birth to her daughter just five months ago but she’s already got back the incredible abs she’s famous for.

The 33-year-old took to Instagram on Monday to share a transformation photo, showing that even if you’re fit and love to work out, bouncing back from a baby takes time.

‘It was hard to notice changes until I looked back to where I started,’ she said alongside a snap of her at six weeks post-partum and at 22 weeks.

‘I’m feeling pretty proud of myself because I have worked really hard but I’ve been really balanced too. I’m not strict, still enjoy life (and treats) and I don’t spend much time away from Mia.’

Emily stopped her usual HIIT-based workouts five weeks before giving birth and didn’t get back into the gym until the six week mark post-birth.

‘The hardest part was the start when I first got the all clear to begin exercising. I felt so slow and sluggish but I worked on it by doing my FIT Program about five times a week at midnight or so (after Mia finally went to sleep),’ she explained to her 2.4 million fans.

‘I’m becoming fitter and stronger every day but I still have to be really conscious of holding my core tight when standing and walking around. It just wants to come ‘out’ all the time.

‘It was pretty big when I was full term so it’s no wonder it takes time to return back to normal. I just have to keep working on training my muscles to hold everything tight, with good posture and get my core strong again. I’m getting there one day at a time.’

She ended her lengthy caption with a question to other mothers online, namely about how long it took for them to train their own stomach’s back to normal.

‘How long did it take for your tummy to stop wanting to push/hang out? I know everyone is different but I’m just curious,’ she said.

‘I am almost a year post-partum with my fourth baby. It’s taken this long to get my stomach somewhat normal and not wanting to poke out on it’s own again. I’ve been hitting the gym hard and eating right for almost a month and a half, dropped six kilos, and in my belly area I can finally see some abs forming again. It went back to normal quick after the first two. Last two babies, not so quick, but eventually it does,’ one person wrote.

‘I’m 18 months in and the belly still wants to hang out. Granted I have a sitting and full-time job but I used to be a yoga teacher with a tight/hard core… its a harsh reality in the mirror every day,’ another said.

”Wow! Great progression! Beautiful in both pictures. You’re so strong and determined. Beautiful mummy,’ she wrote.
