Emma Raducanu warms up for Wimbledon with a spikeball session as the 10th seed looks to overcome injury ahead of next week’s tournament – and takes a selfie with Gary Lineker!

Emma Raducanu has been pictured playing spikeball as the British star aims to recover from injury ahead of Wimbledon. 

The famous SW19 tournament begins next week and the teenager has been battling a side strain in the build-up to the tournament.

And Raducanu warmed up for the competition, which starts on Monday and continues until mid-July with some spikeball on a practice court.

The 19-year-old won last year’s US Open in a thrilling and dramatic underdog story.

However, she has struggled since then after contracting Covid-19 and picking up several injury niggles.

She has played only half a set since the French Open after she retired from the Nottingham Open two weeks ago with the side strain which she is keeping cautious with, in the hope of being properly fit for the big fortnight.

In the absence of a full-time coach, Raducanu has teamed up with former youth coach and family friend Jane O’Donoghue to help guide her during the competition.

Raducanu, recently named 10th seed for the upcoming tournament because World No 6 Aryna Sabalenka will miss out, also bumped into TV presenter Gary Lineker, who took a picture with her.

The Match of the Day host posted on Twitter: ‘Just bumped into the brilliant @EmmaRaducanu. So as it’s #NationalSelfieDay here you go.’
