Emma Weymouth and Kitty Spencer share a behind-the-scenes look at D&G’s Venice extravaganza

From the gold-plated table settings to a breathtaking dance performance, Dolce & Gabbana spared no expense when it came to throwing their fashion extravaganza in Venice yesterday.

The Italian fashion house invited celebrities including Heidi Klum, Jennifer Lopez and January Jones to the exclusive unveiling of the new Alta Gioielleria, or high fashion jewellery, collection at the opulent Palazzo Ducale, a 14th century Gothic palace that is one of the city’s most famous landmarks. 

Over four days the brand is showcasing its Alta Moda, Alta Sartoria, Alta Gioielleria, and Alta Orologeria collections, all in typically fanciful fashion.

Newlywed Lady Kitty Spencer, 30, Princess Diana’s niece and the D&G global ambassador, shared behind-the-scenes snaps of the lavish event, where guests viewed the exquisite necklaces, rings, bracelets and over-the-top jewelled clothing before dining under the stars in the courtyard. 

Notably absent was her new husband Michael Lewis, 62, who prefers to stay out of the spotlight and rarely attends events with his wife. The couple are currently staying in Italy and have been on honeymoon for more than a month.

Later VIP party-goers flocked to the dancefloor. Former Strictly Come Dancing star Emma, Marchioness of Bath, shimmied alongside actress January Jones while Domenico Dolce took Dame Helen Mirren for a spin.  

Explaining the choice of venue, D&G said: ‘Palazzo Ducale is the epitome of Venetian art and cultural life and represents one of the highest symbols of “La Serenissima’s” rich history, which for centuries has enchanted the imagination of visitors wherever they look. 

‘This shrine to Italian excellence and cherished symbol of craftsmanship is today the setting for the presentation of the #DGAltaGioielleria creations.’ 

Lady Kitty was seated at a table with Kris Jenner and her boyfriend, Corey Gamble. The tablecloths featured a cityscape of historic Venice and the crockery and glassware was rimmed with gold. 

Kitty, who wore no fewer than five D&G creations for her wedding at the end of July, looked resplendent in a figure-hugging strapless dress with intricate sequin embroidery.

Elsewhere Heidi, 48, flaunted her pins in a sleek off-shoulder cocktail dress as a water taxi dropped her and her husband Tom Kaulitz, 31, off at the star-studded event.

Leading the way, Heidi showed off her physique in the glittering gown, which featured a leg split, sparkling fringe and a semi-sheer silvery-hued skirt, while J-Lo, 52, wowed in a floral co-ord and January, 43, turned heads in a pink chiffon layered gown. 

January looked pretty in a layered gown, in hues of soft pink and deep red. The dress featured diamond detailing at the waist and bust.

The gown was nipped in at the waist and accessorised with a red and gold purse. She wore her locks in blonde waves as she also boarded a boat and traveled to the venue.

Emma Weymouth turned up on a feathery pink frock. She accessorised with silver heels and a matching clutch.

Bebe Rexha turned up turning heads in a chainmail mini-dress with a matching choker, while Jennifer Hudson arrived in zebra print, trainers and a baggy teal cardigan.

Zoe Saldana and Marco Perego were seen leaving their hotel ahead of the Dolce & Gabbana event.
