Emmerdale: Charity fumes that she ‘despises’ Mackenzie and kicks him out of her home

Charity Dingle kicked her husband Mackenzie Boyd out of her home in Friday’s episode of Emmerdale after discovering his baby secret.

Mack and Chloe Harris recently became parents following their one-night stand last year and have been keeping their liaison from Mack’s wife Charity (Emma Atkins).

But in Thursday’s episode, Charity finally found out that Mack (Lawrence Robb) is Reuben’s father when she saw him visiting the unwell baby in hospital.

On Friday, Mack had to deal with the fallout of his lying as a tearful Charity confronted him over his one-night stand with Chloe (Jessie Elland).

Charity even went to the hospital and shouted at Chloe, fuming about her and Mack’s lies, before being urged to leave by a nurse.

Fuming: Charity Dingle kicked her husband Mackenzie Boyd out of her home in Friday’s episode of Emmerdale after discovering his baby secret

The episode came to an end on a dramatic cliffhanger when Charity fumed that she ‘despised’ Mack and kicked him out of her home, with it remaining to be seen if Mack will be able to win her back.

The explosive argument kicked off at the start of the episode, when a tearful Charity asked Mack to explain why he had lied to her and married her with the secret looming over him.

He said: ‘It happened one time, that’s it, I’ve hated lying to you, but as time went on, I never really knew where to begin.’

Charity then asked Mack when the one-night stand with Chloe had happened, to which he responded: ‘It happened after a row, about kids… me wanting a kid. I honestly thought we were over.’

Charity said of losing their child: ‘I was broken, I was grieving,’ and Mack replied: ‘So was I, and you as good as told me to… never mind. You said, go scatter your seed.’

A fuming Charity said: ‘Wow, really took me at my word,’ before Mack said his actions were because he was drunken.

She fumed: ‘When the baby was gone, you were desparate to try again and I told you it wouldn’t happen, but you pushed and pushed. When you couldn’t pressure me into it, you slept with a teenager!’

But Mack hit back with: ‘I wanted us to have a baby, I didn’t want hers. I wanted her to get rid of it.’

He added: ‘Charity, what do you want me to do or say? I screwed up, I slept with Chloe once, she wanted to be a mum, what could I do?’

Mack vowed he would never see Reuben or Chloe ever again, before she discovered her granddaughter Sarah Sugden (Katie Hill) also knew the secret.

Mack then said he had intended to tell her but didn’t because she was sorting out their plumbing, with Charity then realising that was when he proposed.

In shock, she said: ‘No, no, no,’ but Mack hit back with: ‘That’s not why I asked you-‘, as Charity again added: ‘To marry me?’

She fumed: ‘What better way to throw me off the scent than to ask… there was me thinking, look Charity, finally found somebody who gets her.

‘You swanned up that aisle knowing this could erupt at any time, destroy us, blow us apart, all because you are a nasty, cheating lying – how could you do this to us?’

After storming out, Charity then went to confront Chloe in the hospital, despite the new mother urging her not to shout in hospital with unwell baby Reuben, who has bacterial meningitis.

Charity fumed: ‘Drop the sick kid card, you have treated me like a complete fool! I trusted you, I took you in, because I’ve been there… You still stayed! Looked me in the eye!’

Chloe then insisted that Mack wants Charity, saying: ‘Mackenzie doesn’t want Reuben, he doesn’t want me.’

But Charity harshly snapped back with: ‘Should have kept your legs crossed then shouldn’t you? It takes two to tango.’

Chloe said: ‘Hate me, but don’t hate Mackenzie because he loves you, don’t throw that away.’

An upset Charity insisted: ‘The drunken night, I can handle that, I probably still would have throttled you both, but I’d have gotten over it, and forgiven him.’

Chloe then offered to move away with Reuben, before dropping the bombshell that Mack had offered to pay for a flat for her, which ultimately never happened.

Charity fumed: ‘Admit it, you and the baby, this is what Mack wanted, and he was making damn sure I’d never find out about it.’

After Charity left the hospital, Chloe was seen telling Reuben: ‘We’ve had quite a shaky start, haven’t we? But I promise, as long as we’re together, there’s no one that’s going to come between us OK? I swear it.’

Charity then went back to again confront Mack, telling him: ‘I thought we were partners, equals, I told you everything. I let you in on every piece of my life, but you were planning two lives, one with me and one with them. I’ve been so blind.’

Mack pleaded: ‘I’ll give them up forever, but Charity hit back with: ‘More lies!’

Mack insisted: ‘I never lied about loving you.’

But Charity raged: ‘Well I despise you, remember this moment for the rest of your life, OK? The moment you lost everything. Just go.’

Mack was then seen looking dejected as he left her home, with Charity appearing tearful as it remains to be seen whether the pair will get over the obstacle.

It comes after Chloe was left devastated when Reuben was put on a ventilator and was left fighting for his life in hospital after contracting bacterial meningitis.

However, when Mack rushed to hospital to support Chloe and the baby, Charity arrived for a visit and got a huge shock when she saw her husband visiting Reuben, realising the truth.

After Chloe and Mack were told Reuben’s condition was improving, Charity secretly spotted them as they doted on the little one as she heard him say that he is the baby’s father.

As Charity watched on, Mack told Reuben: ‘Well, you certainly know how to scare your daddy Reuben, you’re gorgeous, and you’ve been such a brave boy, that will be the Scottish in you.’

Emmerdale airs weekdays at 7:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
