Emmerdale fans vent fury over Samson’s dramatic personality change

‘They’ve created a monster!’: Emmerdale fans vent fury over Samson’s dramatic personality change after his blackmail plot is uncovered

Emmerdale fans couldn’t believe how ‘decent’ Samson Dingle has turned into a ‘twisted’ and ‘bitter monster’ after watching Wednesday’s episode.

The teenager, played by Sam Hall, faced the wrath of Charity (Emma Atkins) after she discovered he had been blackmailing her son Noah, who had given his cousin all of Esther’s trust fund.

Samson was unremorseful and refused to hand back the thousands of pounds after being confronted about his wrongdoings in a shouting match in the street with Charity and his father Sam.

He was also unbothered by Sam’s threat to throw him out of the house if he didn’t hand the money back and later told his father he had packed his bags.

As Samson told his father he wasn’t a great role model himself and, unlike him, had dreams of being rich, he threw his keys in the street and refused to hand the money back to Noah.

Fans watching were unimpressed by Samson’s radical change of character and joked it was almost as if he had been ‘taken over by an alien’.

One wrote: ‘Hate the way they’ve created a monster with Samson like personality transplant over past year! Actually hope he keeps the cash and leaves now!!!! Hate his smugness!!!!!!!!!’

Another viewer chimed: ‘The writers really f****d up Samson’s character. He used to be decent. Now he’s a vile little blackmailing sociopath.’

A third chimed: ‘Samson has definitely been taken over by an alien!,’ while a fourth added: ‘I hate what they’ve done to Samson’s character.’

It comes after fans rejoiced as Noah exposed his cousin’s blackmail plot to his mum Charity during Tuesday’s episode.

When Samson and Amelia’s (Daisy Campbell) daughter, Esther, was born last October, Samson shocked the village when he refused to have anything to do with her.

But recently Samson started taking an interest in Esther after hearing that Amelia’s boyfriend Noah (Jack Downham) had been granted a trust fund worth thousands of pounds.

Previous episodes saw the villain demand more money from Noah, in return for staying out of Amelia and Esther’s life.

But his evil plot appears to be unraveling as tensions rose when Charity questioned why Noah didn’t want to help pay for Esther’s childcare with his money.

‘So just give her the money it’s not like you haven’t got it,’ Charity shouted at her son.

‘I really admired you turning your life around, Amelia is trying, she’s going to college don’t you want the same for her?’ she questioned.

Revealing the truth Noah said: ‘I haven’t got any money left.’

A confused Charity fired back: ‘What do you mean? You can’t have spent it all.’

‘I am being blackmailed! Please stop asking questions because it’s going to make everything worse,’ Noah exclaimed.

Charity replied: ‘Is it someone you have crossed on the inside that is blackmailing you? Is that why you are scared?’

Noah told his mum that the blackmailer was actually his cousin Samson, to which she fumed: ‘No way is he getting away with this!’

‘Mum please, all I care about it getting Amelia and Esther back, if you go and tell them now, I will loose them!’ Noah pleaded.

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
