‘I had black curly hair!’ Emmerdale white witch Samantha Giles claims she met husband Sean Pritchard while working on a fairground in a past life… and SHE was the man!
Emmerdale star Samantha Giles believes she met husband Sean Pritchard in a past life – when she was a man, and he was the woman.
In a plot twist unlike anything to have played out on the sleepy Yorkshire soap, Samantha – best known for her role as fiesty Bernice Blackstock – also says her former self bore an uncanny likeness to curly-haired Sean.
The actress, 50, who identifies as a benevolent white witch and lives her life according to the principles of Wicca – a modern Pagan religion – has previously admitted to meeting her husband after casting a ‘love spell.’
Unexpected: Emmerdale star Samantha Giles believes she met husband Sean Pritchard in a past life – when she was a man, and he was the woman
And she believes their eventual romance and subsequent marriage signifies a curious gender reversal following a previous encounter in another life.
Discussing life regression on the Wonderbirds YouTube show, she said: ‘It was weird really, because I was this man actually, and I’d gone to work on this fairground, and the weird thing is it was before I’d met my husband, but I looked like my husband.
‘I had black curly hair and the woman that I was marrying, if you like, looked like me now.
Inseparable: Samantha exchanged vows with production manager Sean in 2010, but she believes they might never have met had it not been for her practice of Wicca rituals
‘So when I met my husband, I had this feeling of meeting him when I saw him – “I know you, I’ve met you before.” So it was almost as if we’d looked like each other in another life.’

Speaking last March, the actress revealed she conjured a love spell to attract the right man after ending a tumultuous relationship.

She told OK!: ‘I met him three months after the spell. It’s about things being aligned. Sometimes people say to me, “I put this thought out there and it didn’t work!” But sometimes things aren’t in the right place so you have to let them go until it’s time.’
In May she elaborated on the lengths she went to in order to find a compatible partner.
‘I’d come out of a disastrous relationship and I didn’t want to be messing about with any waste-of-space boyfriends,’ she said.
You couldn’t make it up: ‘I had black curly hair and the woman that I was marrying, if you like, looked like me now,’ she explained
‘I used Pagan witchcraft and wrote down exactly what I was after and used candles and crystals.’
Speaking to The Mirror, she added: ‘It isn’t as bonkers as it sounds. I wrote down exactly what I was after and used candles and crystals to do the magic.
‘A few months later exactly what I’d written appeared. As if by magic! It’s no different to the book, The Secret. You ritualise and visualise and get what you want in life.’
