Emotional Buster Murdaugh seen visits grave of murdered mother and brother

Emotional Buster Murdaugh was seen honoring the victims in the horrific murder case that has riveted the country: his late mother Maggie and younger brother Paul, as his father’s murder trial continues in South Carolina.

The only surviving child of disgraced legal scion Alex Murdaugh is seen in exclusive DailyMail.com photos visiting his slain family members’ gravesites on Sunday, ahead of a fourth – and potentially final – week of testimony.

The 26-year-old was supported by longtime girlfriend Brooklynn White, also 26, at the Hampton Cemetery in South Carolina, where Buster took a moment to kneel down and pay his respects to his mom and sibling before planting a kiss on the their graves.

Up until now, Maggie and Paul’s graves had not been publicly revealed. At one point, Buster picked up a small statue of a dog that had been left at their burial sites and placed it above his mother’s tomb.

The dog appears to resemble the Murdaugh family dog, Bubba, who has become somewhat of a key player in the case against Alex, 54, who faces 30 years to life in prison if convicted for the murders of his wife, 52, and son, 22.

As jurors had heard earlier in the trial, the yellow Labrador was at the family’s dog kennels on the night Maggie and Paul were gunned down at their Moselle hunting estate on June 7, 2021 – and his presence could prove damning for Alex who, according to witnesses, was heard speaking to the dog in a video recorded at the kennels.

Prosecutors have focused on a cellphone video recorded by Paul just minutes before his death in which voices can be heard in the background ordering Bubba, who had a habit of bothering chickens and birds, to leave the animals alone.

State witness Rogan Gibson, a close friend of the Murdaughs, testified last week that he was ‘100% positive’ that he heard Alex’s voice in the video – putting him at the scene of the crime where he claimed he hadn’t been.

Buster – who has been named as a defense witness – and his girlfriend have been seen attending trial proceedings together in recent weeks, and he could potentially take the stand when defense attorneys begin to argue their case.

As testimony continued on Monday, footage of Alex Murdaugh sobbing on the phone yards away from the blood-soaked bodies of his wife and son has been revealed.

The redacted body-worn footage from the first officer on the scene was finally released Monday after it was shown to jurors earlier in his double-murder trial.

Murdaugh is seen sobbing on the phone and asking an officer, ‘They are dead aren’t they?’ The bodies of Maggie and Paul are blurred out after they were shot multiple times at the family’s hunting estate.

‘It’s bad, I checked their pulses,’ Murdaugh tells the cop as he paces up and down, wearing a white t-shirt, shorts and sneakers by the kennels on the property.

After three weeks of explosive testimony, the State is set to rest its case this week, however, some key witnesses including, Curtis ‘Cousin Eddie’ Smith is yet to testify. Smith is accused of shooting Murdaugh in the head three months after he allegedly killed his wife and son.

Murdaugh and Smith face a separate prosecution over the life insurance scam which was allegedly designed to furnish his surviving son Buster with $11million.

The Murdaugh family, were one of the most prominent family's in South Carolina's Lowcountry, along the state's coastline. They've also been linked to a series of mysterious deaths including the death of a 19-year-old openly gay nursing student Stephen Smith

Smith denies participating in the scheme and instead claims he tried to stop a suicidal Murdaugh from trying to shoot himself.

Ahead of the trial, Murdaugh’s defense insinuated that Smith was involved in the killings of Maggie, 52, and Paul, 22, at the family’s sprawling hunting estate in Islandton, South Carolina, on June 7, 2021.

The disbarred lawyer also faces about 100 other charges ranging from stealing money from clients to running a drug and money laundering ring.

Prosecutors contend Murdaugh thought he was about to get caught stealing and killed his wife and son to buy time to cover up the money trail.

Murdaugh has adamantly denied killing his wife and son. His lawyers said he was visiting his ailing mother the night of the murders and police wrongly focused on him from the start.
