Meanwhile the footballer has reportedly denied rumours of the love child and has been telling people he is not the boy’s father.

A friend of the mistress told the newspaper: ‘She always wanted kids, and was thrilled to fall pregnant, although that wasn’t the plan when she hooked up with the footballer.

‘She was surprised to get pregnant soon after they met, but delighted. There was no question of her not keeping the baby.’

A source close to the star told the newspaper: ‘Things happen in life but he’s a good man and takes care of things. He does not shy away from responsibility.’

Senior officials at the club are understood to be aware of the new baby.
