Red Bull Salzburg starlet Erling Braut Haaland has expressed his delight after matching his father’s achievement by scoring against Liverpool at Anfield.

Despite struggling with illness ahead of the game, Haaland was brought on in the 56th minute of the Champions League clash on Wednesday night and proceeded to score just four minutes later.

Although he couldn’t prevent his side from losing 4-3 Haaland did follow in the footsteps of his father Alf-Inge, who found the net for Leeds in their 3-1 defeat at Anfield in the Premier League on December 26 1997.

‘He’s always telling me ‘I scored at Anfield, I scored at Anfield!’ Now I can say it back to him: ‘So have I’.’

In an entertaining encounter, Liverpool established a three-goal lead courtesy of efforts from Sadio Mane, Andrew Robertson and Mohamed Salah.
