Erling Haaland parties in Ibiza, Michael Olise jets off to New York – while Jack Grealish wastes no time in flying out after England omission… What Mail Sport’s XI of stars not going to the Euros are up to

The Euros gets underway in just over 24 hours but some of the continent’s best players will be watching the tournament from thousands of miles away.

While their nations battle it out for Europe’s biggest prize, a number of Europe’s players have already begun their summer holidays after a long season.

A fortnight ago, Mail Sport came up with an XI of top-quality players who will not be involved in Germany this summer.

Injuries prevented some of them from competing at Euro 2024 but for others, they were simply deemed not good enough or their countries failed to qualify for the tournament.

So, what are they up to now?

Goalkeeper: Thibaut Courtois

The Real Madrid shot stopper was omitted from Belgium’s squad after being plagued by injuries all season. He suffered a torn ACL at the start of the campaign, before tearing his meniscus.

It was a surprise to see him left out as he returned to full fitness and started in the Champions League final.

But Courtois was recently all smiles as he played golf alongside his wife in a sunny part of the world with a stunning view.

Defender: Pedro Porro

Tottenham’s Porro was left out of Spain’s provisional squad and survived the heartache of missing out at the last moment.

The 24-year-old has been enjoying down time in Menorca, one of Spain’ Balearic islands in the Mediterranean Sea and was seen on a jet ski with his partner.

Defender: Mats Hummels

The veteran was surprisingly left out of Julian Nagelsmann’s squad despite a solid season which saw him play a crucial role in Borussia Dortmund’s run to the Champions League final.

Hummels was recently seen all smiles by the pool at a beach club despite the disappointment of potentially missing out on the chance to become a European champion on home soil.

Defender: David Alaba

Austria captain David Alaba will be missing out this summer after suffering an ACL injury while playing for Real Madrid in December.

However, he has travelled with his team-mates to provide moral support from the bench as Ralf Rangnick’s men seek to shock Europe on the back of terrific form.

Right-midfield: Michael Olise

The Crystal Palace winger failed to make France’s squad despite a superb season for the Eagles – and he remains eligible to play for England.

Olise jetted off to New York in late May alongside Tyrick Mitchell and looked to be in his fashionista era as he sported an all-black outfit with goggles.

Centre-midfield: Martin Odegaard

The Arsenal captain will not feature at the Euros as Norway failed to qualify for the tournament.

Odegaard was recently pictured alongside former Spain midfielder Cesc Fabregas while abroad.

Prior to that he went on a mini getaway with Gunners team-mate Kai Havertz, who is set to lead the line for Germany.

Centre-midfield: Gavi

Barcelona superstar Gavi was expected to be one of the shining lights at the Euros, but the 19-year-old will have to wait for another four years, after suffering a serious knee injury in Spain’s qualifying win over Georgia back in November.

Instead of going on holiday like many of his peers, Gavi has displayed his strong determination to return to fitness ahead of the new season as he was pictured working hard at Barca’s training ground.

Left-midfield: Jack Grealish

The Manchester City forward was surprisingly left out of England’s squad despite making the provisional list.

Grealish is well-known for his party antics, and he wasted no time in jetting off to Dubai this week. As reported by The Sun, he enjoyed some booze and at one point needed a helping hand as he made his way through a luxury hotel.

Forward: Marcus Rashford

Rashford paid the price after a poor season for Manchester United as he wasn’t even selected for England’s provisional squad by Gareth Southgate.

He was recently spotted dancing at an exclusive beach bar restaurant in Cannes and onlookers said the 26-year-old dined out at the Baoli restaurant with up to 12 friends where they claim he spent around £3,700 on drinks and food on Saturday.

Forward: Viktor Gyokeres

The Sporting Lisbon striker had a superb season having scored 43 goals in 50 appearances across all competition for the Portuguese outfit.

However, Sweden failed to qualify for the tournament and it has given Gyokeres the chance to fully recharge as he was seen poolside while on vacation with friends and family.

Forward: Erling Haaland

Like his international team-mate Odegaard, the prolific striker will not be involved in Germany as Norway failed to qualify.

Haaland was earlier this week pictured enjoying some down time in Saint-Tropez in France.

He was spotted on yacht with friends in the luxurious holiday location, and was even joined by his father Alfie, who played in the Premier League for Nottingham Forest, Leeds and City during his career.

Haaland’s trip to Saint-Tropez came just days after he was seeing partying away at a club in Ibiza.
