This is the terrifying moment a buffalo ran at full speed in a Chinese city and rammed into multiple pedestrians. 

The incident occurred in Meizhou, southern China’s Guangdong Province, on September 16, according to local media.

The animal has been shot dead by the police.

Five people were gored by the out-of-control beast after it escaped from a lorry around noon time, reported video news site Pear Video. 

The lorry was said to be unloading buffaloes when the animal broke the ropes and ran away. 

The police were alerted immediately and officers were dispatched to catch the buffalo. 

He Yinghao, a police officer from the local Diaofang Police Station, said the officers told the residents to close their doors.

Afterwards, the officers managed to corner the buffalo in an old house.

The officers decided to shoot the buffalo to prevent it from injuring more people, said the report.
