Found: Graham John Enniss, 38, escaped Risdon Prison in Hobart, Tasmania

A prisoner with the word thug tattooed on his neck has been found a day after he escaped from jail.

Graham John Enniss, 38, escaped Risdon Prison in Hobart, Tasmania on Monday morning using some scaffolding that had been left behind.

Police tried to track him down with helicopters and drones but he took off his prison tracksuit and headed into some bushland.

They found him in the bush on Tuesday morning dehydrated and cold.

Enniss, who was serving jail time for shooting at police with a rifle, fled with another inmate who was found shortly after the escape on Monday.

Enniss has a lengthy criminal record.

The 38-year-old went on a crime spree over several days in late 2015, when he stole guns and broke into homes.

He was confronted by police at a dairy farm, where he shot at officers before driving away.

He was eventually arrested on a highway after driving his car towards a police van.

Enniss was sentenced to eight years in jail in 2016.

He also escaped in a prison van in 2010 and assaulted several police officers in the process.

Members of the public were warned not to approach Enniss.
