The teenager has been on a steady diet of drugs all season, especially since she was fronted a whole suitcase of drugs by a dealer named Laurie (Martha Kelly).
The trailer for this episode was more cryptic than usual, with all of the main characters seen reacting to something with shocking expressions.
Rue: Rue Bennett (Zendaya) continues her drug-addled downward spiral in the fifth episode of Euphoria Season 2
Dealer: The teenager has been on a steady diet of drugs all season, especially since she was fronted a whole suitcase of drugs by a dealer named Laurie (Martha Kelly)
The episode begins with Rue’s mother Leslie (Nika King) arguing with Rue about doing drugs and Rue gets mad at her sister Gia (Storm Reid) for ratting her out.
Leslie says Jules (Hunter Schaffer) told her everything, as Rue freaks out as she learns her suitcase full of drugs is gone.
Rue starts looking for the suitcase saying it isn’t hers as Rue starts blaming her mother for her dad dying.
Rue literally starts breaking the door trying to find the pills, trashing the house trying the find it.
Rue starts crying when she can’t find the drug as Leslie tries to comfort Gia as Rue says through tears that the suitcase isn’t hers and this is really really bad.
‘I just don’t wanna be here anymore,’ Rue says before apologizing to her mother and sister, saying she didn’t want to scare them.
‘I’m sorry but I need you to tell me where the suitcase is mom,’ Rue says, but Leslie won’t answer.
She goes back on a rampage, tearing the house apart, before Jules in the other room finally tells the truth: ‘We flushed them down the toilet.’
Leslie tells her not to cry but to ‘own that s**t when she goes to confront Jules and Elliot (Dominic Fike), as Jules says she doesn’t want her to kill herself.
‘You’re f***ing dead to me,’ Rue says to Jules, but Jules doesn’t believe her.
‘You know, I have a lot of regrets in my life but meeting you has got to be on the top of my fucking list,’ Rue says as Jules starts tearing up.
Rue calls her a ‘vampire’, sucking the spirit out of everyone but Jules says that isn’t true, calling her a ‘greedy whore who just likes sucking the life out of people.’
Jules keeps saying she loves her but Rue doesn’t believe her and screams at her for leaving her at her lowest.
Jules says she wants help her but Rue says to help her she can stay out of her life because looking at her makes her ‘physically f***ing ill.’
Rue storms off as Dominic says he shouldn’t have said anything.
‘I liked Rue the way she was. It wasn’t my place,’ Elliot says before walking out the door as Rue breaks down and cries again in front of her mom saying she just really misses her dad.
Leslie asks if she can take her to the hospital and she agrees as Gia packs a bag for her and they all get in the car.
They drive past Elliot smoking a cigarette outside as they make their way to the hospital.
Rue says that she relapsed as soon as she got out of rehab and Leslie says they’re going back to rehab and not the ER.
Rue says she only has a small percentage of people stay sober and she was just a month away from killing herself.
Rue says she doesn’t want to do this and asks to let her out of the car as she gets out of the car and starts running down the street in the middle of traffic.
She turn into an alley and just keeps running as the title card is revealed.
Night has fallen as Rue is still walking the streets on her own, trying to stop by Fezco’s (Angus Cloud) but he isn’t home.
She instead stops by Lexi (Maude Apatow) and Cassie’s (Sydney Sweeney) house as she’s grilled by their mother Suze (Alanna Ubach).
She asks to use the bathroom and starts looking for whatever drugs she can find, instead stealing a pair of earrings.
She comes out of the bathroom and finds her mother who wants to take her to the hospital but Rue says she can’t stay clean.
Cassie tells her she just has to take it one day at a time, when an angered Rue asks Cassie how long she’s been f***ing Nate Jacobs (Jacob Elordi).
Cassie tries to back out of it as Maddy (Alexa Demie) as Rue says she saw him right after New Year’s as Maddy chases after Cassie ad Rue runs off again.
She goes back to Fezco’s, telling her she’s going through withdrawal and she needs something but Fez says he doesn’t keep anything at the house anymore.
She asks to use the bathroom and then sneaks out, looking for drugs all over the house while her stomach still keeps bothering her.
Fez walks in on her opening a pill bottle and he tells her she’s gotta get out of the house.
He grabs her and physically takes her out of the house as her stomach still keeps bothering her.
A couple is seen leaving their house as sneaks in under the closing garage door.
She makes her way through the house when she hears a growling large dog, but he comes over and sits on her, as she tells the dog, ‘I’m gonna steal some s**t.’
She finds some cash and then sees a safe and somehow opens it, stealing more cash but the couple comes home early.
Rue tries to hide under the bed but they find her as she runs out of the house, gimping as she runs.
Leslie and Gia are still driving around looking for her, while Rue keeps walking with her stomach still in obvious pain.
A cop car comes by as she walks as the cop asks how she is doing and she says she’s heading home… before she throws up and starts running form the cops.
She loses them by hiding in the bed of a truck but they catch up with her again but she runs into traffic with cars whizzing by her as she creates a car accident.
Rue runs through a private party, causing chaos, as the cops continue giving chase, with more cops joining.
She keeps hopping fences into various yards while still holding her stomach as the cops can’t seem to find her, wrapping up their search.
When the cop cars all leave, she tumbles out of a trash can and climbs over another fence when she heads to Laurie’s house.
She says she doesn’t have any money, and she was worried that she’d be angry with her, but Laurie says she’s never gotten angry.
Laurie said she was lying to her and said she was sober, telling her she was a college athlete and had a family.
She said that she will have to pay for the whole thing in cash, saying it’s not a pawn shop and Laurie asks when she’ll come up with the money.
She insists it will be soon, but Laurie correctly asserts that she doesn’t look like a person who will be able to come up with money anytime soon.
Laurie adds the one good thing about being a woman is she’ll still have something that people will want.
While Laurie drones on about drug studies, Laurie sees a locked room and says she’s gonna be sick.
Laurie helps Rue get undressed and fixes a bath for her as Rue asks if she has any pills, but Laurie says she doesn’t.
Instead, Laurie shoots her up with morphine, insisting that all pharmaceuticals are safe but Rue can’t keep steady and keeps apologizing.
‘You know what’s funny Rue? When I first saw you, I thought, this girl’s gonna be in my life for a long time,’ Laurie tells her as Rue thanks her while the morphine kicks in.
She sinks into the water as we see flashbacks or her dad washing her in the bath and of Rue delivering the eulogy for her late father.
More flashbacks show young Rue with her father looking at baby Gia.
Rue wakes up in a strange bed with new clothes as she studies the track marks on her arm and sees some strange men sleeping.
She tries to get out and finds the door is padlocked and reaches for a ring of keys, trying to unlock the padlock.
One of the guys stirs on the couch but remains asleep as she keeps trying the other keys but they don’t work.
She walks to another door and finds another padlock as she finds Laurie sleeping with a man only in boxer briefs.
She keeps sneaking around the house as the man – who has a tank top tan lines – wakes up.
Rue sneaks out of a window and jumps down to the parking lot and makes it out of there in once piece, though her stomach is still bothering her.
Back at home, Leslie is sitting at a table when she hears a door open and she says ‘Rue?’ but we don’t hear an answer as the episode comes to an end.
The preview for next week’s episode teases Maddy talking about killing Cassie, but when asked about Nate she says she has, ‘a few ideas.’
Rue is seen having another breakdown saying most people think the world would be a better place without her and she doesn’t disagree.
Euphoria returns with the sixth of eight episodes on Sunday, February 13 at 9 PM ET on HBO.

Rue had relapsed after Jules left her at the train station in the Season 1 finale, with Rue revealing to her addict friend Ali (Colman Domingo) during a Christmas Eve dinner that she didn’t know if she wanted to be clean… and that she didn’t even know if she wanted to be alive anymore.
