European royals very miffed at Harry and Meghan Royal Wedding snub

My disclosure last week that junior members of the Royal Family were aghast at not being invited to Prince Harry’s wedding is nothing compared with the disappointment felt by his European cousins.

I am told there was genuine shock when members of foreign royal families who have been invited to all previous big royal weddings realised they were not on the guest list.

‘They are very miffed,’ a royal source tells me.

I am told there was genuine shock when members of foreign royal families who have been invited to all previous big royal weddings realised they were not on the guest list to Harry and Meghan’s nuptials in Windsor on Saturday (pictured)

‘They invite the Windsors to everything — weddings and big parties — and usually Prince Edward is the only one who turns up. Now they feel as if there has been a Royal Brexit.’

The only foreign royal at St George’s Chapel was Prince Seeiso of Lesotho, with whom Harry founded the Sentebale charity.

Historian Andrew Roberts offered some ribald commentary on the Royal Wedding for U.S. TV.

Remarking on the couple making their last public appearance in the early evening on their wedding day, Roberts said: ‘You didn’t get privacy like this in Iceland in the Middle Ages where five people from the court, including one lawyer, had to watch the marriage being consummated.

‘Can you imagine how off-putting that would be?’

Cue nervous laughter from the NBC presenter, who responded: ‘We need a minute here.’

The idea that Meghan could run for the U.S. presidency, which I floated yesterday, has already received celebrity backing.

Brewing heiress Daphne Guinness, who lives in New York, says she would support the Duchess of Sussex’s candidacy: ‘She’d be the perfect solution,’ says the fashion figure, 50.

‘It would solve so many problems, and history would come full circle . . . in a good way. It sounds far-fetched, but it is a very good idea.’

As Brienne of Tarth in Game of Thrones, Gwendoline Christie has developed a cult following.

The 6ft 3in actress is now branching out as a model, after being signed up by Kate Moss’s agency, and the new string to her bow already appears to be paying dividends.

Accounts for her company, Christie Ventures, reveal she made almost £600,000 last year.

Cold Feet star Fay Ripley, who has two children with actor husband Daniel Lapaine, has forbidden her family from using screens in their bedrooms.

‘It’s a very difficult thing to manage,’ Ripley, 52, tells me.

‘Nobody has any screens — TV, computer — us included, in their bedroom.

‘I also use an app on my phone, OurPact, that allows me to block my daughter from using social media. You can get a bit power crazy with it though.’
