Evolution of generations of the internet over the decades.

Mobile phone communications have become an integral part of our lives. The development of smartphones has further revolutionized our ways of interaction and communication. Not only has this affected the way we communicate but it has created a deep impact on our social lives. When we look back at the good old times around 1980 we have had mobile phones that looked like bricks. They were good just for the phone calls and that’s it. According to Trendytarzan.com  Even in the voice calls there used to be a lot of distortion yet this was considered to be a luxury where you are carrying a device that despite being so heavy gives you the leisure of connecting with people no matter how far you are from the home and even without carrying any kind of wires at all. Then almost a decade later, we have had the second generation of the internet that was 2G. this was a bit more enhanced and improved as this allowed us to at least transmit some data like text messages. This again gave a whole new dimension to the communication ways. Then in the next decade, we have had the third generation of the internet that offered multimedia functions like the internet and FaceTime.  In 2010 we witnessed the fourth generation of the internet that transferred the data four times faster than the previous one. This was very much sophisticated in terms of speed and performance. This enabled us to buffer movies and music with much lesser buffering hassles and we could download GB’s of data within a couple of minutes that in the past was literally near to impossible. Then we have had many new inventions like social media and modern means of communication like video calls and conferencing. This gave a whole new dimension to the ways of communication. This revolutionized the media reporting industry, legal proceedings were being made through video calls and conferences.

The advent of 5G.

Now within just a couple of years, we would be witnessing the 5th generation of the internet. This would connect virtually everything where we would be able to see the driverless cars to the smart fridges as well. When it comes to the speed comparison, this would be incredibly fast, literally around 200 times faster than the current 4G speed. I believe you can imagine what it would feel to experience the 5G technology. Currently, it takes around six whole minutes to download an HD film. But with 5G, this time would be reduced to less than a second. So undoubtedly 5G is going to be the key to unlock new horizons of possibilities and explorations.

Characteristics of 5G technology.

Looking at the basic attributes of 5G technology, it can carry massive amounts of information but can travel shorter distances without interruption. The hurdles and obstacles like buildings trees and other such objects may block the ways for these waves, so this would be essential for 5G technology to have numerous small base stations for the data to reach everywhere without any interruptions. An increased number of these small base stations imply that the cost is going to be pretty high for 5G to get started. So in the beginning, we may anticipate that this would be started from the urban areas, and to bring it to far-flung remote areas, this could take even more time.

Application of 5G technology.

With the advent of 5G technology, we might see its application in self-driving vehicles, coordinated drones, smart health devices, and virtually real mobile gaming that would be more advanced and sophisticated. Many countries are going to experience 5G before 2020, in fact, Qatar claims that it has already launched some of the services.
