A former All Black star has been left unable to walk after being struck down with a mystery illness in Japan.
Adam Thompson, 35, has been in hospital in Tokyo for over a week suffering from ‘excruciating pain.’
The ex-flanker was rushed to hospital in the middle of the night, but doctors still haven’t been able to identify the problem, Stuff reported.

Thomson’s partner, Jessie Gurunathan said there has been no official diagnosis.
She took to Instagram to update fans on her partner’s illness.
‘A few nights ago I had to rush him to A&E in the middle of the night & it’s been one hell of an ordeal,’ she wrote.
‘There is still no official diagnosis (they suspect it’s been a severe infection that’s caused serious internal inflammation & excruciating pain).

Thompson himself posted a picture to Instagram on Boxing Day
‘I’m just so grateful to see him slowly start getting back to his old self.’

‘It’s been a tough week full of unexpected challenges. It’s going to be a long road to get back on my feet but I’m up for it,’ he wrote.
