Time away from Australia may have done Steve Smith the world of good, with the former Australian cricket captain smiling with his fiance Dani Willis in an Instagram post after returning home from the United States.
Following the ball tampering scandal, which led to his dismissal as captain and a one year playing ban, Smith joined his fiance in the United States.
He returned to Australia and posted a message for ‘his rock’ – as well as his family and supporters on Friday.

‘It’s great to be back in Australia’, the Instagram post started.
‘I have had some time away to come to terms with everything and now it’s time to get back into it.’
After the emotional press conference which saw Smith fall on his sword in front of the nation’s media he said he’d been humbled by the outpouring of support.
‘The amount of emails and letters I have received has been incredible and I have been extremely humbled by the enormous amount of support you have given me,’ he wrote.

‘To my Mum, Dad and Dani you have been my rock through this and I can’t thank you enough,’ he wrote.
‘Family is the most important thing in the world and I thank you for your love and support.’

Smith said he would not forget that support anytime soon and acknowledged the long and hard road he has in front of him.
‘I now have a lot to do to earn back your trust,’ he wrote.

‘Good luck and get back into the team – make sure you have learnt something about leadership and decision making,’ one wrote.
Smith’s next move is not known however his ban restricts him from playing domestic cricket in Australia so a move to India or England could be on the cards.
