Flight attendant reveals the disgusting reason why he ALWAYS puts the remote control from a hotel room in a resealable bag: ‘I’ll never let my kids touch it’

  • Dad and ex flight attendant Jarrad Duggan-Tierney shared a brutal home truth
  • When visiting Sydney he stayed in a hotel room with his husband and son Reid
  • On Instagram he explained how he always puts the remote control in plastic
  • ‘I make sure the remote doesn’t come in contact with my flesh,’ he said

An ex flight attendant has explained why he always wraps the hotel room TV remote control in a resealable bag before using it.

Jarrad Duggan-Tierney, who lives in Melbourne with his husband Michael and their son Reid, is visiting Sydney this week with his family.

Just before Easter the trio were staying in a hotel room when Jarrad revealed that he always carries a spare bag with him to cover certain electronics in the room.

‘I love a hotel, but don’t care how fancy it is, it’s my standard protocol (even pre Covid) to make sure the remote doesn’t come in contact with the flesh of myself or anyone I care for,’ he said.

‘I blame all the years of being a flight attendant and hearing many stories about how lonely people get in hotel rooms #saynomore #ibringmyownwipesaswell.’

Horrified by the omission Jarrad’s followers said they’d never thought of how dirty the remote in a hotel may be and this image had given them pause for thought.

‘Haha I have never thought about it like that! Packing plastic ziplocks for my next trip,’ one woman said.

‘OMG yes! I used to do the same thing on layovers. Also, all cushions thrown to one side of the room,’ said another.

A third added: ‘Same. Also won’t go bare feet in the rooms or shower. And wash the glasses and mugs before using them. They should pay me to stay there.’

Another flight attendant agreed with Jarrad’s approach before adding another item to the don’t use list.

‘Don’t ever use the kettle either #crewwouldboiltheirundies,’ she said.

‘I’m curious about the kettle but don’t really want to know but do want to know lol,’ one response said.

Jarrad replied: ‘Exactly! Whilst they toast a sandwich with the iron’.
