Former Home and Away actor Bryan Wiseman has come forward to reveal how he brought the man who repeatedly raped him as a 10-year-old 40 years ago to justice.

A former Home and Away actor has revealed how he brought to justice the man who repeatedly raped him as a 10-year-old.

Bryan Wiseman was orally and anally raped at the hands of Trevor Dale, 60, behind a granny flat in Sylvania in Sydney’s south in 1979 and 1980.

It was only in 2017 Mr Wiseman went to police, sparking a two-year investigation that ended when Dale pleaded guilty this week to one count of buggery and another of indecent assault.

The ex-soap actor shared a Daily Mail Australia story to Facebook this week as he revealed further horrifying details of the ordeal.

‘To the male individual who tormented and abused me who said ‘You weren’t raped, you wanted it’… May you choke on your words. You’ll get yours one day mate. Monstering me all these years will eventually catch up with you,’ his post read.

‘After 40 years, I finally got justice.’

His abuser was caught after police taped a phone call between the actor and his abuser, in which Dale told Mr Wiseman he hoped he wasn’t going to say ‘it’s been 30 years since you molested me’.

He told the St George Shire Standard he had hoped the phone call would allow him to forgive his abuser, but it had the opposite effect.

‘I wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt but when I spoke to him and he said it was a bit of fun, it took all of my strength to hold myself back,’ he said.

One of Dale’s attacks left him so injured his mother later found his underwear with blood in them.

The actor said his mother blamed herself for not being vigilant of Dale’s attacks – which happened at Mr Wiseman’s family home.

‘Before she died she was in a coma, and I said: ‘Mum, I love you, don’t ever be sorry’, and I saw a tear come down her cheek so I knew she could hear me,’ he said.

With his abuser’s guilty plea behind him, the former Home and Away actor said he now had a ‘new lease on life’ with the dark cloud of his experience having shifted.

Dale had met his victim through his parents at the southern Sydney suburb’s bowling club, before the rapes then occurred in December 1979 and January 1980.

Dale, a bus driver from Nowra on New South Wales’ South Coast, had denied raping his victim before his guilty plea this week.

The actor told police an attack had caused him to yell out in pain, but that his rapist put his hand over his mouth to stop him making noise.

Following one attack, the victim said, he was ‘crying, hysterical and in excruciating pain’.

‘The victim continues to feel dirty and ashamed, and suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder, panic attacks and nightmares,’ an agreed police statement of facts read.

The actor had told only those he was closest to among his family and friends about what had happened before coming forward to police.

Dale will be sentenced on November 8, with two other indecent assaults against the victim also due to be considered by Judge Siobhan Herbert.

Mr Wiseman rose to fame as Dr John Wilson in Home and Away – starring in the TV soap between 1998 and 2003.

He started his career playing a frog owner in the 1980 Australian comedy film Fatty Fin.

Earlier this year, he was announced as the United Australia Party’s candidate to run against Prime Minister Scott Morrison in the southern New South Wales seat of Cook.

The party’s leader Clive Palmer praised the actor for his work running a foster home for abandoned animals and for his membership of the RSPCA.

‘Bryan has outstanding community values and a passion to make Australia great,’ Mr Palmer said in an interview.
