Former Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Mike Sims-Walker is being accused of sucker punching a man in downtown Orlando back in April and leaving the victim with serious injuries, including a fractured skull.

According to an affidavit for an arrest warrant filed in Orange County, Florida, Sims-Walker is facing a third-degree felony charge: battery with great bodily harm. He has pleaded not guilty. 

The incident took place around 2:30am outside of Orlando’s Tier Nightclub.

The victim, identified by Orlando Police as Mason Graham, was knocked unconscious and taken to local hospital in critical condition. 

His current status is unknown, but Graham’s parents said he suffered bleeding of the brain and a fractured skull, according to the affidavit. His parents also said he was on a breathing tube, but it remains unclear if and when he was taken off of it.

A friend said the fight began when Graham bumped into Sims-Walker and the two began arguing, according to the affidavit. Sims-Walker, who had played collegiately at nearby Central Florida, then punched Graham in the face.

Police obtained a cell phone video from a witness, and later identified the suspect as Sims-Walker.

According to police, Sims-Walker’s cell phone data put him in the area at the time of the incident.

Sims-Walker has since been arrested and posted $5,000 bond, according to court documents. 

Walker played for the Jaguars from 2007 until 2010, before brief stint with the St. Louis Rams, a return to Jacksonville in 2011, and a season with the CFL’s Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

Officially Sims-Walker had 134 receptions for 1,798 yards and 14 touchdowns in his NFL career.
